Hello all, I am trying to decide on a subwoofer for my HTS:yahoo:, my current options are:

Polk PSW 125
Wharfedale SW 150

and finally, Polk DSWmicroPRO 3000; I am not too sure about this, ProFX is giving it away for 20K as the model is being discontinued. This little 8" sub can pump out 1200 Watts :eek::eek::eek:
I don't know if this is good, bad or for that matter what its implications are on my HTS. Someone please advice.

Oh, the rest of my setup,
Front : Polk Tsi 400
Surround : Polk Tsi 100
Center : Polk cs20
AVR : Denon 2113

PEACE!!

- Wharfdale SW 150 has a 150 watt amp and only goes down to 35Hz.
- Polk PSW 125 can do 150 watts continuous, 300 watts peak, only goes down to 32Hz.
- Polk DSW MicroPRO 3000 can do 1200 watts continuous, 2400 watts peak, goes to 25Hz.

No contest! The MicroPRO will go deeper and louder, with more amplifier headroom for better dynamics, than the other two (by a wide margin).

Heck, if you can afford it, get two. You can set them up to cancel each others' peaks & dips, so that you get smoother/flatter bass across your seating area.

I think they are giving discounts on DSW micropro 2000, the bass response seems good but it is having small niggles controling volume etc., Our forum member SVKNDV bought it recently , write out to seek his opinion.

Thank you all, after looking further into DSWmicroPRO 2000 on the net, I have come to understand that it looks good on paper, but in terms of actual performace, it isn't all that great.

Instead one other model has been highly recommended, that is the Velodyne Impact 12. What do you guys have to say about this???

I met the owner of htstore.in today and he too recommended this sub. If anyone thinks that this sub is not good then "speak now or forever hold your breath"

Also, regarding wiring, any advice about guages and brands? I am currently doing my research regarding cables, but I would like to know what others here have to say.

Thanks again!!

Hi all,

How about B&W ASW610 sub? It is very expensive : Rs 50k plus I think. But it has rave reviews all around the globe on the net. Is this sub really over-priced, or is it worth spending such money?

I have had MS 309i and Polk 110, and though they are their money's worth, I though I would move up the ladder for subs. My mind is on the 610, and such big money needs some serious thinking? Does anybody own the 610? If so, please share your thoughts.

Many thanks!
Nagaraj

Don't know about the 610, but 50k is well over my budget for a sub-woofer, the Velodyne is a little below 30k and I am sure it will be enough.

Consider Jamo sub 250/Sub 300, best match for HT/Stereo purpose

There is one other contender now, that is the Polk DSW pro 660wi. This sub seems to have much better specs than the Velo impact 12, but the price after disc is roughly the same (3k diff).

I'm going crazy, I don't know what to do..:sos:

Someone please help me out here in making a choice. Don't want to invest almost 30k on a sub and regret it later.

The Polk seems to have better specs in terms of power and lower frequency(polk: 20hz and velo:29hz). But, I also know that specs aren't everything, and the actual performance could be really crappy despite the specs.

So, is there anyone here who has auditioned both???

Whats the base price of SVS in India? How do they compare to the velodynes?

I am interested in the PB-1000 for my HTS, I have been told 43k minus discount....
Regarding performance, haven't personally heard it, but it is supposed to blow everything else out of the water.

Have heard the polk range with the setup mentioned. PSW 125 blended well. The 660 is good but you will go tired with it owerpowering the complete setup. I have heard it along side the RtiA7 which I feel is a bass heavy FS. But the 660 did blacken the A7 most of the time.

We can always reduce the volume I guess and also adjust the xo settings. Its not always about quantum of bass but also quality of bass.

Actually the essence lies here " Its not always about quantum of bass but also quality of bass". :clapping:
