I am looking to buy a new home theater. For the last 2 years iam looking for the best one to choose. Always some or the other reason stops me to buy the product. Now I got confused. So I thought that let me ask for suggestion in this forum.
I gone through review of Sony str-k55sw. Came to know that it will be so loud and not good to hear. So i dropped the choice of sony str-k55sw. Here is the thing which iam looking for.

Looking to choose AVR + Speaker + Subwoofer from different brands
Iam a music freek, always like to hear music. 80% of the time I like hearing music and 20% time like watching movie.
I like the bass a lot and that too I like strong bass.
I hate that dar dar sound, which comes from the speaker, on high volume.
AVR, it should produce a clean, crisp and strong bass.
AVR should support format, which is at the most required
My Room size is 738 cm x 300cm.
Servicing center is required for these products.
Iam staying in Bangalore
Considering the size the my room, I heard that sealed woofer will better, rather than port woofer. Best woofer for my living room.

Waiting for your response

The very first question, whats your budget?
80% music -go with a sealed sub
dar dar sound you are referring to is distortion, good speakers will have low levels of distortion, a gud budget to start is 40-50 k(going with bookshelves )
btw if you are gonna listen to music 80% time consider a stereo setup
some good sub's that come to mind are svs sb1000, sunfire ds10, Cambridge audio aero9, velodyne impact 10, Boston acoustics, wharfedale etc
Audition as much as you can

Thanks Sujit. I planning to use the speakers for music and movie. If you take the speakers, which is the best in it. I mean the best speaker for all these channel like center, left, right, surround left and surround right. Please provide AVR details as well, which will fit perfectly for these speakers.

Sound is good according to individual taste. Some may love heavy bass, some may love midrange vocals, some may love highs.

Yamaha / Marantz have very soft sound.
Sony / Pioneer / Denon have very brittle sound.

I strongly suggest while you to take demos, listen to same song/movie clip, and let your ears judge the difference.

Music is best with a 2 channel stereo amplifier and one pair of speakers.
With 80% music, that is what you should go for.
Rs 60,000 will give you a much better stereo than a 5.1 home theatre system.

It will be best if you go out and listen for yourself. There are a lot of good AV stores in Bangalore.
Listen to music on a home theatre system and then the same music on a similarly priced stereo system. Then watch a movie on the same setups.
Do it at 3-4 outlets with different brands.
Come back and relate your experiences to get further advice and only then decide which way you want to go.

With that budget do not venture into the home theatre territory, if you are serious about the music. Go for a good music amp n pair of descent bookshelves!!

Since you wanted to have movie watching in same setup I would suggest you to buy an AVR and pair of bookshelf for that budget now and later expand in 5.1.

In the same budget you would be able to get AVR + 5.1 Sub-satellite speaker package. But it will be a compromise for music as you have 80% music preference.

The problem is that, i cannot rule out the options for movies.

That's what I said. Watch movies and hear music on both stereo and 5.1 and then decide which way to go.
You might be surprised at the movie sound quality with only two speakers.
I have know some people who are happy watching movies like that.
The important thing here is YOU hear and only then decide. I am sure the extra effort will be worth it.

What would you prefer for the AVR and book shelf speaker. I mainly like the strong bass. I am very bad in doing audition.

what do you mean by strong bass, is it the ground shaking effect or the "hit you in the chest feel', i would suggest a good avr a pair of decent bookshelves and a good subwoofer, and you could later expand to 5.1

Go to
Profx at Barton center MG Road or
HTStore.in at JP Nagar or
Music Ranch in Jayanagar 3rd Stage
whichever is closest to you.
Take audio cds of music you like (music that you listen to everyday not something that is supposed to be cool, for ex: i take some hindi/kannada cds) and tell them your budget. They'll play some combinations, listen to them and maybe come back here and discuss the same. You should be able to decide. Do not hesitate to go and listen. You will be surprised how willing most of these people are just to play some stuff and listen with you. Good luck

Hey sash, Appreciate your suggestion.

I did audition today and selected only the speakers for now. Pioneer BS-22LR is the one. After lot of confusion, i decided on this speaker and brought it today. For now brought only the speakers. Planning to buy AVR and Sub Woofer later. Pioneer BS-22LR are so good man. Currently iam using a normal amplifier. But the sound was so good. It makes me to hear more and more. Even very bad song also makes good in these speakers.

Sound is Clear, Crisp and Nice Bass.

There are many recent purchases in Dali Zensor range. The Dali subwoofer is very compact and packs a punch too. I went with Velodynes but really liked Dali sub woofer. I have zensor 5's and happy with it. AVR is Denon X2000.
It costed around 1.5 lakhs without the surrounds. Bought from DNI bellandur.
There are mixed reviews of the shop. My transaction was peaceful though.
Their Demo rooms are good. You can take your cd's, hard disk and they were patient enough.
Happy hunting.
