Suggestion needed for Grafix cards

before getting the card.. chk for the card power comsumption that you system is capable of and also the size.. if you have a compact factor or a mini size factor.. adding card will be difficult..

my pick will be ati 4350 for 2700 rs there are 6 gpu is that series..

4350 nx ____ also have a hdmi port besides the two dvi ports.. and is 2600-2700 bucks odd

rest 3 k get a core2duo and you are good for gaming and HD movies.

Great info on the prices, Thanks! BTW, if HD audio is important then ATI 5xxx series would be able to send those thro' HDMI out...as 4xxx series have some compatibility issues with certain AVRs

Actually I am getting it from a friend who is upgrading for 1k. :D

But then I have normal small ATX cabinet with normal power supply (iBall Cabinet+SMPS, that comes for 1100-1200).

I don't know if it will fit in my cabinet and if my power supply will be able to handle it or not.

Sam, I have a Sony Handycam HDR-CX150 (1920 x 1080i) and I am very happy with it.

Should do fine, a casual smps 300-350W would easily drive 8400GS based system....

BTW off topic, your handy cam HDR-CX150 ... it doesnt come with a remote to operate it, does it ..... correct me if I am wrong. (reason.... even I am on a lookout for a 1080p handycamm, and currently collating the pros and cons of all available ..)

Thanks for the info on 8400GS. So I am getting it. Let's see, 1k is not a huge amount for trials. :)

Yeah, HDR-CX150 doesn't come with a remote. I am 100% happy with my purchase.

There is another option "8600gt 256mb ddr3" also for 1.6k.

So this is better or "Palit 8400gs 512mb ddr2" for 1k keeping my requirement and my normal pc cabinet/smps.

better i am telling u leave this and go4 ati 4650 or 4350 more powerful than 8600 also if u want still too low then go for 8600gt.if u want 3d plus too good card go for 1gb 220 gt .
plz select 4650 and forget rest
 
I was looking to purchase a ATI 6850 or GTX 460 decided to go with ATI 6850 due to the better video quality for movie playback

slightly off the topic but i have 2 questions..

1) does HDMI allow passthru of bitstream of basic DD and DTS formats.. as right now i do a SPDIF passthru i wd want remove this now..
2) Some movie rips have audio tracks as AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) which until now i was encoding to AC3 (DD) on the fly from ffdshow before passthru over SPDIF, but i guess that option wont work with HDMI.. any options guys? or do i have to convert the AAC --> AC3/DTS before playing..
I know TMT3 has an option of conversion to DTS, but hasn't worked for me for SPDIF passthru.. has anybody tried the same for HDMI?

What do you all think about the nvidia graphix performance in Zotac mini pc's?

I want to move away from media player and buy this Zotac pc...
 
My PC is pentium 4 Daul core 3.4 Ghz , Motherboard is Asus P5LD2 . I am currently using nvidia 9300 512 Mb card but i am not satisfied with picture quality. can you guys advise any higher sound card that would make some substantial improvement in PQ,

Are you looking for HD-audio GC?
Then ATI 5770 & above will do.
But if you need only better video,then GT240(or above) which can give HW support for almost all codecs-
NVIDIA GeForce GT 240
