Hi Friends,
I am relatively new to the forum and Hi Quality audio.
I am planning an HT audio setup for my living room, hence require all the help I can get.
Budget: The estimated budget for now is 70-80K.
I have got a transferable job so will need to shift houses in every few 4-6 years, hence will need a setup that is favorable in different rooms. I don't need to make the music boom throughout the house, but should sound good in the designated listening area.
Usage: Although I love movies, I won't possibly be able to watch movies all the time, hence music will also have a decent part to play.
I am estimating 60% movies and 40% music.
Not a music specialist but I love the concert sung songs (reality shows like The Voice and SaReGaMaPa allure me). I prefer Rehman to Pritam sounds great to me. Rafi is one of my fav. Imagine Dragons sounds good to me (i liked 'Dream').
For Movies I wish to get an immersive experience (multi directional effects n all) and would love to experience the 'Interstellar' humm in my room.
Got TataSky HD too.
Hence at least a 5.1 setup will be required. But want it to be upgradable to 7.1.
Also I am planning to get a 3d enabled TV, so 3d and 4k support is imperative along with other connectivity options like wireless, BT and USB.
Movie content is more in HDD though I will also have a BD player.

Room size: The current room size is 28X12 feet with the TV on 12ft side. But this will change as I change houses.

My ears are sensitive to bright sound and get easily tired by them, hence I neutral to warm tones.

I have some views of my own, not sure if they are correct or not (have only read theory till now, no practical experiences :p). I am guessing, I will need at least bookshelfs to floorstanders in the front, to get some juice in stereo mode(for music). Also, incremental component-wise upgrade is possible, but that way I will loose on the Movies surround n center effects, until I upgrade to them .
I stay in Jaipur currently, and there are almost no proper HT dealers here.
The Yamaha dealers don't have a demo setup. Another multi brand dealer, 'JBs', sounded too uninterested to deal in anything below 1.5 Lacs.
I met an Onkyo dealer yesterday. He showed me a Onkyo TX-SR343B+Phase tech Cinemicro setup for 75k. On it, movies sounded ok to me, the stereo music part was disappointing to my requirements as expected. Also auditioned hts7705, it was dull to me. The Dolby Atmos setup sounded great to me, though I didnt enquire the model as it was way over my budget.

I am going to delhi tomorrow, to audition options. Though I am not sure how installation and support will be taken care at my home for the first time.

It will be of great help though if you could point out recommendations around this budget so that I can audition them and choose.
I hope the details I have given will suffice.

Cheers!!

Hi, what comes to my mind are two solutions.

1. HTiB - You lose money in the long run, it becomes useless in later age and on top of that it won't suit your needs.
You need a balanced sound.

Now considering you have a good budget. What you can do is, get a 5.1 Receiver.
Pioneer/Denon basic range comes to my mind as of now. You won't go wrong with them.

Speakers : You have a wide range of options.
Bookshelfs : Good Balanced sound, but maybe not enough to fill the room size in your budget. But are portable and can work much better in spaces.
Floorstanders : Balanced Sound, but too tall for every room. Also, a tad bit expensive.

Options : Boston Acoustics, Elac(Basic Range), Melodika Speakers etc.
You really need to audition well.

Two places worth trying :
1. SoundByDesign, Gurgaon : Sid is a really good person, and has loads of options available. Also, his prices are very competitive. I am a little biassed because I am an SBD fan, I love the way they treat their customers and Sid is a good friend now. I call him for all my HT needs.

2. MG Road : Multiple options available. Basic to expensive. I am not a fan of their attitude so I don't avail their services.

Thank you and Godspeed!

Thank you so much for the quick response.
From old posts i gather Sid is an FM himself. He also was recommending Mr. Denny from Bass N Treble..
I'll try both places out.
Also whats the review of yamaha..
Any additional suggestions are most welcome..
