Hi

I am looking for Home Theater with Satellite speakers (Due to size). My room size is 12 x 16. Budget is Rs 1 Lac approx.

I have shortlisted on Wharfedale DX-1 and Marantz 5007. But I want some experts to tweak the configuration so that I can get better sound /OR lower price for similar quality. The DX-1 is available as a package with Yamaha 473 from Hifi mart. I wonder how it compared with Marantz. I was also considering Tannoy HTS-1 but somehow people seem to like Wharfedale better. Also Piano white finish also goes with my Decor.

Also please suggest any idea of price that I should get in Delhi.

Marantz 5007/6006 + deftech procinema 600/800... Total damage will be 1 lac for 600 & about 1.2 lacs with 800... in a span of 2 days I auditioned denon+dx1/paradigm millennia/Martin Logan motion 4 5.1 set + a genelec setup and then marantz+deftech option... Believe me none came close to the deftech in this price range atleast to my novice ear... Only thing that sounded a bit better to me was the genelec 8020 setup but that was 2-3 times the price... Deftech atleast deserves an audition if nothing else...

PS As Abhijeet mentioned you are lucky that the AVMax expo in happening in ur town & u should take full advantage of it...

@ Hey Abhijeet long time no see :) ...

Have bought & am using the DX1. Extremely happy with the sound (& they look awesome too) & I feel its a great package with the Denon 1713 / Yamaha 473 at approx 69-70k. Do audition a few & go with what pleases you the most.

I will suggest you Paradigm Millenia 5.0 with Denon 1713......
And if u r in delhi i will suggest you to visit AV MAX expo this weekend.....U will get some gr8 discounts and stuff over there.....
AVMAX | AVMAXEXPO 2013

I am just waiting for the event. I just want to finalize what I want because I don't think there will be much of experiment during the event. I guess you should just have your options and strike a deal.

Thanks for some options. I will just search for them in Delhi.

Is Yamaha 473 sufficient or do you think that a Marantz 5007 would have been better? I had DX-1 in mind, but Abhijeet has given some more options.

I went for audition of Deftech Procinema at M.N. Corp in Delhi. They gave me an audition of Procinema 600 but with a different and power sub woofer. They didn't have the correct sub woofer. The speakers were good but I fear they may not sound so good after the actual sub woofer is in place.

I also tried Tannoy HTS-1. They were very good. Could not manage an audition for Wharfedale DX-1.

For HTS-1 the shop keeper suggested that I go for a Denon 1713 as Marantz 5007 was an overkill. Also Marantz is difficult to repair incase of any problems because they use self designed patented components. The other suggested that Denon was inferior.

Looking for suggestions from people who have tried Tannoy and Wharfdale models as to which is better. Also suggestion of AV receiver are welcome.

Pls look out for Energy Take classic 5.1, I've personally not auditioned it but it has got lots of positive reviews around the web and it wont burn your pockets much.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
