Sunfire XTEQ 12” Subwoofer

The pmc's are lean sounding floor standers which go to 28 hz in tests. In my room with boundary reinforcements they go to 25hz. Their bass extension is not the story here. But their speed and texture is. Will not be easy getting a sub to match their speed. So pmc make their own sub, to match the twenty series speed. And even there sub is two small woofers, just because they need to match the speed.

Hi helium flght...this is a friendly banter. But why would manufacturers make larger taller subs .

Exchange of views is essential so that we don't commit same mistakes. Why do they make smaller drivers? I think it may be the cost. I could be wrong, though.

I owned a PMC earlier and agree that TL technology they deploy surely makes the basss go low, however there is no attack in that sound. But I go agree about the agility of PMC drivers.

Well I dont know too helium flight. As I mentioned before, they are very lean sounding speakers. But iam yet to find the attack missing. I've of course heard some big 15 inch driver speakers make bass, that are rich sounding. But are slow :)

Agreed, 15" are slow but are able to produce wholesome sound.

Well helium flight...as I mentioned before...everything is a friendly banter bro...no need to post your system now. Take it easy please.. :)

15" and 18" sub drivers are not necessarily slow. Seaton Submersive is considered the best sub in the world by many and this sub houses a pair of 15" drivers. JTR Captivator S1 is also one of the best in the world and it has a mammoth 18" driver. These 2 subs are very musical, fast, did deep and also go above 120db. So Big drivers are not always slow.

Hi alpha century...

Any ball park figure around which those subs are priced. In my first post in this thread, I mentioned that big driver subs with speed are expensive. And not impossible :)

Iam referring to the reasonably priced subs. One single 15 inch driver sub vs two 8 inch driver subs. The discussion is on which of these two is better for 2.1 channel music rig. It is beyond contention that the single driver 15 inch sub is better for movies. But what for music.
