support needed : airplay on receivers ?

i have an airport express installed at home , if i buy a a/v receiver like for eg : denon 1713 , can i play music from my mac directly to my home theatre without any other wire or do i have to connect the internet ethernet cord to my a/v receiver ?


also can it play on the speaker connected on my airport express and airplay enabled receiver at the same time ?

Check the receiver. For example, my Denon 1912 do not have wireless. However, it has ethernet port.

Hence you need to connect the ethernet to the router to get internet/airplay.

assuming that your mac is connected to the airport express, you need to select airport express as the speaker in itunes. You can connect your denon avr to airport express through an optical cable with mini toslink at one end. Alternatively you can connect your denon using a stereo cable with 3.5 mm stereo jack at one end and RCA (left and right) at the other end.

You do not need any fancy networking on the end device.
