Dear Friends,

I'm Unable to decide between these subs :
SVS PB-1000
Sunfire SDS12

Have auditioned both at different showrooms. Coming to PB-1000 audition, not sure due the room size (HT Store) may be I did not feel the thump and rumble but felt deep bass. Next SDS 12 : awesome bass , thump and rumble. I need your expertise , if you have came across these subs and in your experience and kindly suggest the best one.
(I agree i'm comparing two different class category SVS 10'' and Sunfire 12'')
There is a thread already present but not included PB-1000 : http://www.hifivision.com/home-theater/48951-clash-titans-sunfire-v-s-svs-v-s-polk-subwoofers.html).

I have heard SB1000 and SDS8 in same stereo setup and liked the sunfire more. Have heard SB1000 and PB1000 in another 5.1 setup and PB was slightly better for movies at least. I can only imagine how the SDS 12 will sound but I would definitely put my money on it.

Thank you dr_rocket :)

Last week I heard PB-1000 & yesterday heard PB-2000. I fully agree with you about PB-1000. It was not at all upto my liking. It had only rumble. No punch. I was really disappointed. I had lot of hope.

Yesterday I auditioned PB-2000. The sub is really big in size with big sound(quality & quantity ). Though it had rumble, punch, thump but not what I am looking for. I am still looking for very tight bass & tight thump.

I think ported subs are not for me. I have yet to hear sealed.

Frankly speaking for an apartment living, I think it would be too big not only in terms of size but also in terms of sound.

I am still searching...

Listen to REL Subs, probably the type of sub you are looking for

Between the 2, the SDS12 for sure. where did you hear the SDS12?

Thank you Both djalan & JayaRaa , for your valuable inputs and experience.

I've auditioned SUNFIRE SDS 12 AT MUSICRANCH, Jayanagar,Bangalore.
I wanted to by before 30th as the rates going increase by 1st July(GST effect) and it may cost min 10K extra on the prices what I've been offered (65K , need to bargain) .
Or I'll wait as it's not urgent for me and will get from US if any know person coming from there as It costs half of the price what we pay here. (Later need to arrange step down transformer /stabiliser)

What do you people say on this thought?

getting it from US would be good, provided someone is willing to bring it along considering its weight. Could could buy a 220v unit in the US itself.

Did you try PC 2000? May not be available for audition but may be the best performing sub in this price range. I almost bought 2 of them before auditioning my KLH floorstanders with 15" sealed woofers..

Bringing back an old thread to life. Did you buy a Sub? Which one? Do provide a brief review.

I auditioned SVS PB 1000 at musicranch and Sunfire SDS at Bluewave last year. I had exactly same experience like @djalan after auditions. Couldn't feel the thumps and rumblings from SVS. Also auditioned QAcoustics in the same set up as Sunfire but nothing could beat the exp that I had with Sunfire. Went ahead and bought SDS 12.

I have used SDS12 and QB12 both in my setup, both have its pros.
QB12 thumps but didn't rumble, SDS12 rumbles but didn't thump.
Now using BIC-AMERICA PL300, yet to breakin.

Shocked to hear SVS PB1000 did not deliver.

As an ex svs owner,i too feel svs hypes up only ultra low frequency and they market it well,i too fell for it and got pb1k then.

PB1000 better low frequency extension as compared to SDS12. But Sds12 have accurate bass I feel than PB1000. One can say it is mixture of PB1000 and SB1000, so can be used for both music and movies.

How is Bic America PL 300?

Loving it so far, goes low, thunders and rumbles. Can feel the bullet shots and low frequencies easily hitting me.

Was playing Hans Zimmers playlists, Windows rattled and I had neighbour come home asking something is happening at her house, she couldn't understand, asking me to have a look and I was like ya its me I was playing music :p

But yet to calibrate, usually let the subwoofer run for 30-40 hours before calibrating them.

That's nice to hear
