Taking LCD TV from US to India

Hi all,
We are going to India from US. Is it worth buying a LCD TV(40" or bigger) from here and taking it to India? Will it work in India without any problems? Or am I better off buying one in India?
Appreciate any help regarding this.

I would never consider it given how crappy todays item durabilities are. Half my stuff that are made in the last 3 years are already dying, old stuff from 10 years ago still lasting. So in regards to warranty, I'd never consider it.
