Is anyone using a Tata Sky HD box with LG LCD Tv?
My neighbour recently bought a 32" LG TV( LD310) and a Tata Sky HD box.
When connected through AV cables he is able to watch and listen to the channels.
But if connected through HDMI or Component the TV says no signal.

The same HD box works fine with my old Samsung 32" Tv.

Both LG and Tatasky service persons are not able to find a solution.
Both have replaced their respective products and gave new ones,
yet the communicaion between the 2 devices is not happening.

What could be the missing link here?

Strange to hear this. Have you, your friend or the LG people tried connecting other HDMI devices? Does that device work properly? Check this and then start with the diagnosis.

Cheers.

yes the TV works fine through HDMI when connected with a blue ray player and also when connected to a DVD player through Component connections.
In the showroom also it works fine with Airtel HD box via HDMI.

There's some compatibility problem between LG and Tatasky,
with others it seems to be fine.

buddy..... i got an LG lvd and tata sky HD works perfectly.. check the settings on lcd and tata sky.. give it a try.. try checking input on all the hdmi ports and select the same port in menu and also try checking the output on tata sky.. set it at 1080i or 720p m sure it will work.. how in the world is it possible that both the devices being replaced and still not working..

does it shows no signal on lcd screen when tata sky is connected of does the screen goes blank ????.. also change the hdmi cable.. it can be an issue and generally lg will have 3 hdmi ports.. one on side and 2 behind.. try on all of them with a diff hdmi cable.. it will solve the issue.. many of my friends are also using tata sky with lg lcd and they are all good..

That's just crazy !! I'm foxed...
I have an LG plasma... New and the Tata Sky HD box. Works just fine.
Have the firmwares updated on both ( I don't know how, ask
Tech to reset an reload new software / firmware version) and try.
All the best !

Yes it shows "NO SIGNAL"
this is LG's entry level model 32LD310, has got only 1 HDMI input.
The HDMI cable and even the 'access card' of Tata sky were changed.

Even i have doubts about firmware or some frequency mismatch.
Told the same to the the technical guys, they are clueless about the same.

hmm .. lets see it says no signal.. did you tried any other hdmi device on same port .. with the same cable ?? and does it works.. if yes... then tv is isolated...

its wid the tata sky..

Yes the LG guy gave a demo with a blue-ray player thro the only HDMI port available in the TV.

Latest update is the component connection is working alongwith TATA SKY after some fiddling by the same LG guy with a 'service remote'.
He has taken a pic of the LG hardware/ software details on 'screen page' and said will come up with a solution in 2 or 3 days after consulting the engineers.

then tv is isolated...

its wid the tata sky..

What does that mean?

it states that the hdmi on tv is fine.. so tv is all good.. its the compatibilty or firmware or bug in tata sky..

Hi Guys
I can confirm this problem. I have an LG LD 310 with single HDMI port. I have a WDTV live which i connect with HDMI to the TV and it works perfectly well. However when i tried connecting tatasky HD with HDMI it says no signal.

looks like a compatibility issue with tata sky... or lg or might be both.. can you people confirm what model of hdmi port is on that TV.. might be some kind of issue like that..

I have read somewhere that LG 310 HDMI does not have CEC support. Could that be the problem?

I have read somewhere that LG 310 HDMI does not have CEC support.

These korean TV makers Samsung and LG don't publish detailed spec in their Indian website or user manuals. They don't even mention whether a partcular model will play 24p/1080 or not

yup thats the issue... it might have been on 1080i and hence no signal...

finally we found it.. so set it to 720p and you are good...

Hi Kris,

Miraculously the HDMI connection started working a couple of days back.
Nobody did anything and it started working on it's own. Might be Tata Sky updated it's software or something. Have told my friend to keep watching without changing any of the settings or removing the cables, etc :), atleast till the IPL season gets over.

Now another problem has cropped up. The screen turns green if the set top box is swithched off first. It remains for few seconds and then turns black. It never used to happen while using AV connection.
