Hey all,
I am very much interested in the TCL 6 Series R625 and R615/13/17 TVs. They are absolutely great for their price. Unfortunately TCL does not sell those sets in India and only dumps shit.
I am trying write to TCL about how TCL can disrupt the market and win a great market share in India with their 6 series sets. The TV retails for 600 USD in the US that's roughly 44k. I don't see any TV that can compete with it in the price range.
And I am pretty just my email won't make them retail the TVs in India. We can together create a petition or group mail them and see if that helps.

Thanks

That sounds like something I would do, but I think this is more effective in complaining. When TCL can sell much cheaper TVs, for them, at the same price here, what's their incentive to sell this one instead? Their profits margins are way higher in India. A big chunk of the populace is uninformed. No reason to do anything different as of yet. Maybe next year, when OLED prices fall further and 48 inch oens are also launched, then maybe market factors will dictate cheaper sets that can compete with those.

Yep. But given the amount of competitiors in the space, I think TCL will quickly give up its market share if it doesn't distinguish itself. There is also very high competition from VU which basically sells rebranded Hisense. Like you said next year's market conditions will dictate what happens.
But it isn't going to hurt to try and if we succeed it's going to help us all -- a great TV at a great price.

I have the TCL P615 that I got it from there and can agree on its value for money prospect. But due to import duties and greedy dealership markup, they might not go well with the current competition unless TCL can get them in their own stores for less.

I guess you are talking about R615 and not P615, right?
If nothing works, I am planning to do the same. I have friends and relatives there.
How much duty did you pay? How did you ship it here?
Btw, how much duty did you pay?

I'm talking about the older P615 model which is still very close to R615 in picture quality. Duties would be the standard amount set for such equipment. Hand carrying is the best insurance for such big things :)

To be frank, it would be a rather pathetic thing for a customer to petition to a supplier. TCL or any other company is in the market to earn a profit. It is the task of their management to sense customer requirements and not the other way around.
I for myself very rarely participate in customer feedback survey. I think the onus is on company to find out my satisfaction level about their products and services and not trouble me with some survey!

While I completely agree with your POV. But more than thinking who should it, in this case it's going to benefit me so I don't mind doing it.

Thanks. Fixed amount irrespective of the TV? I read online that it largely depends on the customs officer's mood. Are there any extra charges for the baggage from the airlines?

It is never fixed amount,it is as per "discretion of the inspecting customs official". That offcial also won't just quote any random number but instead take reference from a quick google search for the model name/number & prices on major sites like amazon US/newegg etc.

Nah, it's a fixed percentage of the equipment value.. but as others mentioned, it's mostly dependent on the officer there :)
