Hello all

I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with this amp? I am getting the opportunity to pick one up, and was wondering if there was positive feedback on it? I am currently using a Sansui AU 222 and while i'm happy with it, I don't want to pass on something that could be much better. How is the phono stage of this particular Technics? I couldn't find much info online, so maybe you guys can help shed some light on this model. I am using B&O Beovox S75 speakers. I mostly listen to vinyl, i have a Rega P3-24 TT. Is this a keeper or am I going to be bitten by "upgraditis" soon?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure on the price, going to meet the person to finalize.. nothing has been set as yet. I'm hoping to get it for around 8k. Although he said it will need some repairs for the power supply.. will need to have it checked out.. I'm assuming another 4-5k will go for servicing. Hopefully my Sansui wont cost more than 4-5 k to repair as well, otherwise for the amount of money i'll have spent on both these amps I could probably get a good quality brand new one :P

Appricateyour dairing!!

Buying a non working amp for this price??8 K..and if this amp is that great why not the seller repairing andselling ?

just check - it has got dual power supply ,,,also are you technically competent to check other parts in non working amp? also have you checked this facts about power supply -- There seems however to have been three types of transformers used, perhaps to cater for differing local electric standards ; the all have the same size (visually at least) but their respective top cases look quite different... ( from vintageknob)

being a smalltime dealer myself sometimes not able to check the stuff 100%-and taking a call on dead tuff is eadly - just dare , buy and keep us posted!

BTW AU -222 - repairing cost 5 K? the should cost less than than - i mean it is ot 20-30 year old but 45 year old amp!! This to you bought non working? at what price?
