The VT20 is out on the Panny Website

This set is worth for 2D Picture quality alone...according to various forums even though there are issues this set outdone every other plasma in the market in 2D and 3D is descent as well.
Any details of price on this?

Panny VT20 is on sale for MRP 1,99,900/-comes with two 3D glasses will be available for demo at Panny brand shop, mumbai after couple of days.

2lakhs for a 50" better to go for a cheaper tv and buy a projector for critical viewing, much better experience.

alot of Panny 2010 plasma owners in UK have reported its inability to handle motion at 50Hz video input. i'm a bit concerned as a future VT20 owner as our VT20 is almost identical to UK's but none of th V20 owners at HFV have complained about it. here is the link: Panasonic VT20 Owners blur & pan shot issues - part 2 - AVForums.com

guess you did not search hard enough:

Mate, IMHO its to much to spend on a first generation 3D TV.....and even if one does where is the content to watch !!!

thanks for your suggestion i know it wont be too wise to spend this much just for the sake of 3d but if you see the expert reviews and owners experience this is the best 2d tv available today second only to the king 2nd gen kuro which is 2.5 lacs + in case you find one. Ill see a demo this weekend and will compare it to 50V20 to justify my purchase.

The pricing of the 50" 50VT20 by Panasoinc in India is outrageous. The relatively equivalent model in the US, the 50VT25 can be bought for approx. Rs 90,000. As a matter of fact, in the US you can buy the 58" 58VT25 for approx. Rs. 127,000 and even the 65" 65VT25 can be had for approx. Rs. 184,000. No excuses of duties or taxes can justify the obnoxios price gouging by Panasonic in India. Panasonic products should be boycotted for their attitude and treatment of the Indian market. That is the only language these companies will understand. I often wonder why our media does not play a more pro-active role in highlighting such issues.

Wonder where you got these prices from.

I just checked Amazon for VT25 prices. 50 VT25 costs $2359 ie. Rs.110K. It costs Rs.165K here. So, that's a 50% increase in price.

To put things into perspective, Samsung 50 C550 costs $899 ie. Rs.42K. It costs Rs.68K here. That's a 62% increase in price.

Amazon is not the "end all and be all" of shopping in the US. If you really wish to get pedantic, then let's really put things in perspective, the price quoted by 'akasmarty2003' is not the MRP but rather the lowest price it is available at. Similiarly, the price I quoted is what the TVs are available to buy for in the US. By the way, I even rounded up the prices to the next hundred instead of quoting the lowest quoted price. Based on the lowest listed price, ie $1844 (@ Rs. 47 to $1) the actual price is only Rs. 86,668 which translates into only a teeny weeny 90.65% increase in prices here. As for the price comparison of the 65" model, let's just say Panasonic price in India is an even far greater rip off than the 50" model.

PS: We have not even taken into account the extra features that are there on the US equivalent models, unlike the Samsung C550 which is exactly the same TV in both countries.

Amazon may not be the "end all and the be all" of pricing in the US but it is a fairly good indication of prices. Question still remains as to where you got your prices from. And may I know what the difference between this and its US equivalent is? I know that some companies tend to reduce the features on their Indian models (LG is notorious for this) but I know of nothing with regard to this particular model.

How did you conclude US C550 is the same as the Indian C550 ? As far as I can see, there's at least one difference - US C550 has 30W speakers while the Indian one has 20W speakers. Also, the height, width and weight don't match. US VT25 and Indian VT20 are identical in terms of features, dimensions and weight and I have no idea what missing features you're talking about.

Are you sure those VT25 prices you mentioned includes shipping and taxes ? Also, what akasmarty quoted may not necessarily be the best price and the model may be priced higher because it's being introduced just now. I remember the first 42V20 owner here got it for 71K and a month or so later, I got the same for 60.5K.

All said and done, comparing US prices with Indian prices is not such a good idea. Product pricing and market placement are done after forecasting demand and judging market conditions, so it's unfair to compare Indian prices with US prices where the markets are completely different. If you don't agree and wanna keep comparing, then all I can say is 'happy headaches'!
