I think I did a blunder purchasing it from USA.

I have tried playing many types of movie files thru hardisk, but am able to play only mkv format. Is there any limitation on the size of the file. In websites the file size of a HD movie with DTS is minimum 10 GB. Can these file sizes play in this blue ray thru hardisk (USB).

The BD-S370 uses FAT32 file system format for USB connect external hard disks and for USB flash ... the FAT32 has a limitation of 4GB file size max.. So when you download >4GB MKV files you need to use MKV split tools so that individual files are <4GB.... that way the player can recognize the MKV and play them.. it automatically picks the next file in a folder so you do not have to maually load the next file.. but there is a 2 sec perceptable blip as it changes files...

Onyone know why SONY BDP-S370 play 2.35:1 always in 16:9 format, its very annoying,I.m thinking of throwing it out the window. anyone know how to solve this problem?

play around with the aspect ratio setting in the menu.
It is fixable.

guys,

I have purchased sony BDP-BX37 (same as 370) from US and have got that to Bangalore. I have following problems if any one can help me:
1) DVD and BD are US region locked and I am not able to watch other region locked DVDs (even english movies hired thru seventymm).
2) I downloaded Iron man movie in mkv format thru mediaget website (torrent) in hardisk. My BX37 is sensing it thru USB, but is not able to play. It gets hanged and goes OFF.

I know there are many of you who would have done enough research to tackle these issues. Pls let me have some suggestions.

Also please let me know free download sites through which mkv videos can be downloaded and played thru hardisk in BX37 thru USB.

Download tsmuxerGUI and open the mkv in it.
Check if video level is less than or equal to 4.1..if it's less than or below 4.1 then it's okay..either change the level to 4.1 and demux it. Then remux using mkvmerge.

Sometime in mkv file header compression is enabled and that's the main reason u are unable to playback it.
Just mux it using mkvmerge and it will play fine.

I installed the new version M03.R.742, but still the sub titles are not playing for mp4 files..... Any Other Method instead of conversion????

Rename the .srt file as exact name of the mp4 file...like

Iron.man.mp4
Iron.man.srt

It will play.

Also u can mux the mp4 file in mkvmergegui and add the subtitle there. Then u don't need to add srt file individually.

Question here: When i play movies thru USB, volume button do not work. Is there anyone who is also having some problem. I am not sure whether its a problem or what.

That volume button is for increasing/decreasing TV's volume.

If u have a external hard disk drive or a pen drive make a partition of 32 GB and format it using FAT32.
Then use mkvmergegui..in Global option select split after size 4080M and mux it to that partition. U can playback the file.

Another great tip:

Problem description: unable to play some mkv files.

Solutions:

1: Some mkv files are encoded H264 profile level greater than 4.1. If you play them, you will get a pink screen. Resolution is to convert those files into profile level 4.0 by using a video editor. I use the following software to do just that.. hyeah:

H264/AVC Level Editor | CoolSoft

2. As you know, some of the mkv files have their header compressed when they are created using mkvtoolnix or other tools. We need to re mux them with header compression disabled. Earlier editions of mkvtoolnix (i think v 3.0 and below) didnt have this option by default enabled.
Later versions all have this "header compression" enabled by default.
Steps:
1) launch mkvtoolnix.
2) Go to File\Options
3) Tick the option (meaning select the checkbox) "Disable header removal compression for audio and video tracks by default"

Now, with these two tweaks, you should be able to play 99% of the mkv files on the Sony BDP S370 Blu-ray player.. !!! :clapping:
