To drive wharfs 10.2s

Hi,
Looking forward to drive wharfedale 10.2 speakers, had hooked them up with norge 2060 but somehow i blew the tweeters twice,got replaced them but now as per suggestions from forum members looking for a powerful amp or something to drive them nicely and safely.Thinking of pairing them up with marantz mcr603

Marantz mcr603 might be underpowered to drive the wharfedale 10.2's.

Look at any amplifier that can output atleast 50W RMS consistently...

You can also consider the Norge Pre-Power amplifier.....Would be sufficient to drive them good.

8 Ohms...After reading many articles on speaker frequency range & speaker ohms, i learnt that Ohms will vary according to frequency being played by the speaker...

The speaker ohms dip to 4 ohms or sometimes less than 4 ohms where there is heavy bass material being played...

Can you tell me why you feel the Norge is the reason for blowing your tweeters? Also, how a change in amplifier would help in your case?

Give a try for Marantz PM7004\Yamaha A-S500 etc, As per my understanding Whrafs are Warm so match with Bright Amps.

Try to make Norge into "Sale by owner's Thread,else check whether it can be used as Pre's

You should trouble shoot why the tweeter blew, one of the possibility could be lower powered amp is clipping but that is unlikely make sure your connections are correct firstly.

Thanks for the advice brother,but i intend to keep the norge amp as i have paired them with sony ss grx8 having rated impedence of 8 ohms purchased from forum member seandsilva(set B for these speakers) and they go very good even if i go fullblast on volume,treble and bass.nothing happens but with wharfedale twice i blew the tweeters when going only with half volume, you see what is the point of buying a amp when you can't enjoy music to the fullest? I will certainly looks at marantz amps.

In This case cant blame Whrafs ,as even after replacing the Tweeters it got blown,either Norge as you mentioned its working perfect with Sony(Made for each Other

Anyways try to re-wire wring sector/Use new cables from Amp to the Speaker,even a single piece of wire getting sorted would result in bad way.On safer side the Boxes were in guarantee,and this is only thing to feel good.

@hseplak, pls share the details and the experience of the new amp after u own the new one. I am now planning for new stereo setup with norge amp, but with ur experience I need to think twice b4 I have those.

Can anybody explain if norge amp is the real culprit to blew the tweeter since it has not enough power to drive 10.2?

hseplak, I use an Onkyo TX8050 Integrated which I can recommend.
You can demo it at Lakozy in Mumbai. Lots of convenient features and they will drive your Diamond 10.2s very well.

get a NAD 325 or a denon PMA 700 series
both are well built and match the warfedales well

both kick a decent amount of power and both are highly reliable

look in the classifieds section for a clean amp
My 325 will be on offer soon but only once one of my speakers are sold so i cant offer it to you now
