Of the late I am observing lot of noise like whistling kind while playing any Records. Even its evident while the tone arm is moving or starting the TT. I have checked the TT and Phono with my Onkyo AVR setup and it is not audible there not sure if that is due to very low sensitivity speakers

Any pointers to fix this? its very annoying to listen with lot of noises.. please help

Does it happen on low or high volume? How isolated is your turntable from your speakers.

My B&Ws wee generating enough of a magnetic field at higher volumes to cause the MM cartridge to start picking that up and create a weird sound

If your turntable and speakers are on the same surface, and very close to the speakers, there will definitely be a hum noise at higher volumes as Nitin mentioned. The problem being faced by jmascreen could be due to one of the following factors.
Worn out stylus for whistling sound while playing or lack of isolation resulting in feedback or high resonance. To identify, a stethoscope may be useful

Just noted that even without starting the TT, I am getting the hum/hiss/whistling kind of sound by just selecting phono in pre amp. Rest all other source are working good

It could be a grounding problem. To check this, you must take the earth wire from turntable and connect it to bring it in contact with the amplifier at different points and see if the sound reduces or completely goes. If it still persists, there must be some problem with the caps in your phono stage.
