Betaab, while tunes are good, lost out because of Shabbir singing quality. We felt it was below par.

Everybody will have their own favourites. And we completely understand that.

One notable film missing from this list according to me: Saveray Wali Gaadi

The purpose of this list is to just serve as a starting point. I am sure everybody will have their own favourites. You can add/delete to make your own list.

There are other titles like Sunny, Rahi Badal Gaye, Arjun, Jaise Ko Taisa, Betaab, etc which might feature in someone else’s top 75 list.

That’s about one-fourth of the films RD composed for. Appreciable effort, but which of these wouid make your top 10 or 20?

What could also help, is a line on two on what you like in each of them. That way we’d be able to understand your criteria/considerations, because when it comes to art appreciation, things are largely subjective.

Also, what can also draw upon your vast knowledge and collection is to point out which formats and versions you’d recommend for each album.

Sachinchavan15865, I have already posted my top10. It’s there in this thread. As you rightly said it’s all subjective. I was hoping this would serve as a starting point for those who want to compile their own preferred list. A lot depends on which era you were born. If you were born in 70s, I would expect a higher percentage of titles from the 80s.

Also this list has been made in collaboration with Souravin. On this forum, he’s the most knowledgable when it comes to RD compositions. He pretty much owns all RD releases, in some format or the other. His knowledge and experience was invaluable in compiling this list. Left to just Souravin, he may have replaced 3-4 titles with his other preferences. Left to me, I too would have replaced 3-4 titles with my own preferences.

Being born in the 60s, I would have preferred Abdullah, Abhilasha and Manoranjan to Pukar, Kaalia and Parinda :) But that’s just me

For all the 75 titles, I would prefer vinyl to any other format. Next choice would be Made In England CDs.
