Hi Guys,

I am looking to buy a LCD this Diwali without burning a hole in my pocket (actually this is an important part).

On ebay i have 2 deals on these LCDs-

1.Toshiba 32AV700 - 22K
2. AOC L32DK99U - 20K

Features for both are almost equivalent, plz chk features thru the hyperlinked name.
Both have free wall mount & HDMI cable.

Now, i have no idea on Picture quality,
Overall quality / reliability and,
After sales service for both the brands above.

Can you plz suggest which one would be a better pick, considering i don't wanna spend much & also want a decent (if not mind-blowing) quality LCD, Or do you think both will be worthless?

Also, there's another choice.. Samsung 32C450 @ 27K. Its almost like 5-7K more, would that be worth?

Thanks for all your responses!!

didnt know AOC is in tv making businessand i havent seen single toshiba panel in mall , so no idea

A few months back at an lg gallery i saw a basic LG 32" model 720p hd ready, with an hdmi port, composite and component each. The quality was very good, and dth looked good, i suggest you go to a lg shop and ask them for the cheapest 32inch. It was an IPS display so again pretty good for home use with its viewing angle and avg contrast ratio being good.
Cost was around 23.5-24k.
It looked much better than the toshiba in terms of aesthetics.

provided u can live with 1 hdmi port..

I am using AOC 22 InchTV+ Monitor for last 3 months.I think warentee is more than 1 year and on site (need to check, searching for receipt)
So for so good Picture is decent , i bought it as occasional monitor for my laptop ,very good in that respect
After sales was not required so cannot comment.

There was a negative reaction on toshibas after sales ,which is mentioned in forum

Avoid AOC L32DK99U. I have seen it and PQ is not at all upto the mark. Its upscaling engine is almost non-existent so it is no good for cable TV. And from what I have seen red colour appears to be oversaturated, though you could probably adjust this from menu settings.
All in all this TV is like one of these so-called monitor TVs. It is just a display and will show a good picture only if the source is good. In that respect go for the Toshiba, though service and warranty might be an issue.

@shredder
Did you see the exact same model of AOC? I thought it was a reputed company (am i wrong?), so was expecting something good from them.

@shredder & @madbullram
What kind of warranty issue is with Toshiba?

I was inclined a little more towards AOC as they have mentioned good format support for Audio & Video thru USB, while from Toshiba's description it looks like it will only support jpg.
Also, warranty for Toshiba is 1yr and for AOC 1yr (comprehensive) + 2yr (labor).

Although good PQ is definitely a must for any TV.

Guys need some more inputs..

AOC is a reputed company as far as making of LCD monitors is concerned. But that does not necessarily mean their TVs are good. Were it so then DELL would be one of the leading makers of LCD tvs.

Issue with Toshiba is that there is a dearth of service centres. However since you are in Bengaluru, I think there should be some kind of network there. Also check with the eBay seller as to the terms of the warranty.

Don't worry about audio/video support through USB. Just get a decent media player which will do the job better than any TV out there.

Toshiba should score over AOC in terms of picture quality.... anyday

Its the first time I am hearing abt aoc.
you can also checkout sansui. 32" avlbl for 19K. at least its a japanese brand and these guys hav been making tv for sometime.:)

@shredder
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, you are absolutely correct, monitors and tvs belong to different genres so cannot be compared.

About USB, i am already using a media player so its not a major problem.. i was just looking as an added feature directly with the tv.

Hi Jainanshal, can you please point me to the place where you've got these offers? I want to buy a 32 inch LCD and that Samsung C450 price is pretty good one.

Prices i quoted are from ebay.in
They have some special Diwali offers.

Also, they have on offer a 32" Samsung LED 32C4000 @ 36,270. I think that too is a decent price for a LED tv. Along with that you can also get a gift from ebay when you purchase from there.

toshiba after sales service has been an issue...thats what I meant by warranty and also parts sourcing might be a problem if something goes wrong...all this is IF the TV goes wrong@

Guys from your inputs, its almost clear that i should go for Toshiba over AOC. But as i was closing in on this decision, my wife is now insisting on buying a LED!!

So again i have a question for you.. at ebay only i found this LG 26LE5300 (26" LED TV) @ 25.5K

I have seen difference between LCD & LED but i am not sure how should i compare between the 2 options here as one is 32" while other is 26".

What do you suggest, 32" toshiba LCD at 22K or 26" LG LED at 25.5K?

Also, can anyone from bangalore guide to a place where i can find better price than mentioned above.
Thanks a lot for your replies... :)

Could you guys explain why? Both are LCD displays right? Am I missing something here?

Both are LCD displays but Toshiba being a more reputed player in the market obviously makes better TV with better signal processing. LCD display is just that.. a display, with no signal processing whatsoever. To demonstrate- connect your HDTV to your PC and play a movie. The PQ will be far superior to that on an ordinary LCD monitor--- provided your HDTV does not happen to be a Videocon or an AOC.

Do not compromise on size even if the smaller display has a slightly better PQ, unless you are considering a 32" LED. I'd still suggest the 32" Toshiba
