My uncle wishes to transfer all the music from his vinyl collection to cd to preserve the music. Unfortunately he has a Pro-ject turntable which doesnt have a USB. What would be the best way to go about this? Suggestions would be greatly appriciated! Thanks in advance! :D

If you are ready to gift the LPs many of our members will volunteer to convert the vinly to cd free of cost :D

Back to your query - If you have a PC, plug in the vinyl to audio-in of PC, and there are plenty of softwares which can do a decent job including the removal of hizzing and pop sounds. One such software is "NCH Golden Records Vinyl to CD"

Hi Sandesh,

You will need an analog to digital converter to convert the output from your phonostage. I used to use this Amazon.com: Behringer UFO202 Audio Interface: Musical Instruments. You get other models also from other manufacturers.

Simplest way to get the the signal from your TT>phonostage>USB>computer.

Then download Audacity free to record the input and spit into tracks and do pop/click removal if required.

Regards

I am getting Nu mark TTX TT - a DJ TT . It has digital output ... will that help in recording?

If you have a sound card that accepts digital input, it would be the perfect setup! Is the digital output coax or optical or USB?

Don't complain:)

Now you have a choice of:
1) using inbuilt analog-to-digital conversion of the Numark --> S/PDIF input of your existing sound card (no conversion required by your sound card)

or

2) analog output of the Numark --> your existing phono stage --> line level output from phono stage --> analog input on your existing sound card --> anlog to digital conversion in your soundcard.

The first one is a much shorter path. You should concentrate on that first.
