True Digital amplification

*gazes into crystal ball*

i see people coming in and whining about how "specs don't mean a thing" .... "anyone can claim anything" ..... "digital sucks" ....."this will not work well with [insert component]"..."this will not have soundstage/dynamics/warmth/resolution" and so on, without even hearing the amp :)....oh but politely and subtly.....that's what differentiates hifivision from the other audio forums :)

should be fun.

+1. and then one has to spend time explaining things, politely of course:)

Captain - I have just got the Behringer DEQ2496. Compared to the TACT system this is on the opposite spectrum as far as budget goes. But I still have hopes. Both are supposed to do similar jobs in a hifi setup. Lets see how it shapes up.

Hi Bala,

Congrats on the purchase. I got the reference of this amp from the site of Newform Research speakers of Canada. He did mention about the Behringers.
Wish you all the best

hey Bala, that would be interesting to hear. Behringers polarise the audio world from what I can see. Some people say they're brilliant and perfect, and others say they add something undesirable to the sound, and are not 'audiophile quality'. Now that you've got one, I must come over and check it out :)

You are welcome to.

As with most things in my setup, the Behringer too is a polarizing piece of equipment! I have spent the better part of a few months reading :).

I have a feeling that 'Morph the Cat' is going to sound very different on this setup now. But it is for you to find out.

I have always said I am no audiophile. The purest of the audiophiles consider this anathema. It is still very early days. But I dont have any reservations in saying I am having fun. Trick is to see if this fun lasts....

And thanks Captain.

Mmmmmm..... knobs, buttons, digital display, and... oh so many sockets!

But, after the gadget gazing, what does one do with one (outside a studio/live sound scenario)? How are you using it? As a really-graphic equaliser? As an astonishingly complex "sound card"? I'm very curious!

Complex does not even begin to describe it. :)

To answer your question I am using it as both - a really-graphic equalizer as well as a DAC. Shortly I also intend to use it for RTA with a matching Behringer microphone. Play around with some room correction and see how it goes and so on.

Oh and you are welcome to drop by.

Sorry captain for sidetracking your thread. If people are curious about the Behringer, let me know and I will start a new thread.

Ofcourse we are start a new thread with step by step instructions on using the device, heard and read a lot about it on many forums .... all the best

OK folks. A new thread it is. Allow me sometime to actually learn to use the product and then we can get to the next stage, viz, comparing it with other DACs and sound cards and such.

Doesn't this device also function as an external crossover for speakers?

Sent from my iPod touch

not thats a separate device..this is the DEQX2496. have been playing around with one myself.
only problem is that it accepts only optical and AES/EBU..and that means getting 2 good digital cables :(
i use it purely for its graphic display as using entry level cables just robs the life out of music.
