TTs in movies !!!

There is a beautiful shot of a turntable in the movie 'Small Apartments'
In this movie, Mr.Allspice (James Caan) has it.

Also I think in movie Umrao Jaan the gazal "Chupke Chupke" is shown playing on TT

Check this Movie HUM - Govinda and Rajnikant "Fighting" on Batman OST

4. Kishore Kumar in the epic comedy, Half Ticket shakes a leg with a lady with music played on a Record Player in the background. Actually, putting it into context, Kishore Kumar was acting a sales person for the TT in that scene. Hilarious.

Nope, actually that was a spool tape recorder that he was demoing for the lady in question. The track played was the famous guitar instrumental "Raunchy".

I remember a scene from Hrishikesh Mukherjee's "Khubsoorat" where Rakesh Roshan gifts an LP of Jim Reeves to his younger brother.

K Balachander's "Sindhu Bhairavi" has a scene where Sivakumar visits Suhasini at her house and is impressed with her vinyl colleciton of Indian classical music.

"Yeh shaam mastani" from "Kati Patang" features one of those HMV portable TT models.

In English films ,Off-hand I can only remember "Nick and Norah's infinite playlist", where Nick (Michael Cera) is shown playing a Big Star LP

Then there is "High Fidelity" where John Cusack owns a record store.

I think in "Pretty in Pink" , Molly Ringwald works at a record store.

Then there's the movie "Empire Records", also about a record store.

Heh. I pretty much know that film by heart - one of my all time favourites. Still pissed off as hell that I can't get one decent copy of it anywhere. Bloody ultra folks have chopped a good 30 mins off.

Half Ticket? I have a copy. Let me know what is the actual duration of the movie. I will check mine; in case I have a full version, I can ship it to you.:)

PS: BTW, I too probably have an Ultra VCD Only.

I have the Ultra VCD and two different editions of the DVD. All badly truncated. Official ultra channel on youtube also has this truncated version. Random jumps throughout the film - I used to have it on VHS so remember a lot of the lost scenes.

Shame - this is how we treat our films.

Let me share my experience: I have an LP of Anand. The movie barely has 4 songs in all. The LP also has dialogues. Now what HMV has done is that to accommodate the DIALOGUES, they have skimped the songs itself. Can you believe it? Stanzas, repeating lines, lead music etc. are all skimped in an LP version for a movie which has just 4 songs?? If a user is not getting full songs even after paying for a OST LP, where is he supposed to get it?

For Andhi, the songs were recorded at a faster speed on an EP to get it accommodated, making it almost unbearable. At times, it can be hard to determine a male & female voice on that EP!

Disgusting. When you consider the immense wealth of talent in this country and the shoddy manner in which their legacy is treated, the frustration and anger is just limitless

Saket...try and get the SP's of Anand (which are easily available), full songs with good quality. Regarding the dialogue LP, it was specially edited by Rishikesh Mukherjee himself(pls check the cover) to accommodate the movie storyline, hence songs are of lesser duration. For once I think we can't blame HMV this time.

Bhaskar

I will check this fact on the cover.

I have many VCDs myself and this is a common complaint. Many scenes are not to be found. In many cases the popular songs of the movie are also nowhere to be seen.

that was ghulam ali in his signature ghazal chupke chupke raat din in nikaah. umrao jaan is set in late 1800s. also old chashmebaddoor of 1981 had mehdi hassan record playing in its opening scene. incidentally all yesudaas fans should absolutely must get chashme baddoor lp.
