Dear Experts,

Please guide me in buying or recommending tubes for Pathos anniversary edition twin tower amp.
I got this amp yesterday and I fell in love with sound signature and sheer current available for rise and fall of music. Musicality has increased manifold.

Now I want to experiment with tubes as owner has also suggested to do the same to get the best out of it.
It has tubes 12AX7LPS-SOVTEK , after searching on net for replacement tube
i got results here-
https://www.amplifiedparts.com/tech_corner/12ax7_comparison_of_current_made_tubes

Now please suggest me if tube T-12AX7-MUL is right replacement or should I go for some other tube.
Second thing is - if someone could tell me the secure way to buy the tubes internationally or better if it is available in India.

Thanks
Dheeraj

hi dheeraj

gorgeous amp! both sonically and visually :)

do check out upscaleaudio.com for a brief description on the sonic signatures of different brands. as it's hard to figure out what works best for your amp without an audition, this may give you some idea.

speaking for myself, I went with the Russian cryo tubes from tubeman.com in place of the standard electro harminix 6922s which came as stock with my amp.

hope this helps.

Hi Dheeraj,

Congrats on your purchase !
Tube rolling is a hit and a miss if done in random hence it would be a good idea to find out from other current on past owners on their findings
if i were to buy blind i would choose Gold Lion over any of electro, Mullard or Tung Sol although each will have a substantial difference in presentation. JJ have had quality issues and hence i was told to avoid them.
Jim McShane at Jim McShane Home Page is a very good person tor each out to as he ensures quality/matched tubes
Another site I have used is Cryoset.com. their packing was exemplary.
Ebay is a good option as well as long as the seller ships international and has a good reputation

Regarding importing, fedex/DHL etc might be expensive but, IMHO recommended. USPS even the registered version has really poor handling
if not using registered there is a 50% chance you might never get it
