As per the topic says for what purpose a video out from a TV is used? I know that audio out is used for connecting external speakers or amp.

As per my understanding if we want to connect another TV for display, we can connect it using splitter from the source. Just like showroom connects all TVs. So is this has a same purpose?

Also If we want to create a display wall (for example four TVs : 2 tvs in a row and 2 on top displaying a big square image and each tv showing quater of it)
how to achieve this? Has anyone tried this? This is just for my knowledge.

Thank you.

There are two ways to create a video wall:

1. Buy hardware that would take video from HDMI/Component/Compsit/VGA and split it across 2*2 (4 TVs) or 3*3 video walls. This is easiest and most expensive option.
2. Builf a PC that does the same function. It would cost approx 20k

This does n't answers the original question, although informative. I assume the video out feature can be used for recording. In that case does this overcomes the restrictions put in by the DTH operators ? ( When I tried to record video from my airtel dth to computer what I receives is blank screen, due to some restrictions imposed by the operator. But I can watch the video on live mode)

Thanks Netfreek for answering. So by point 2 do you mean a pc hardware like a graphics card/ splitter costs 20k alone? Is there any software which can simulate for demo purpose?

Thanks god2007. I guess it would be. But again you can directly record from the source through Input connections like rf, s-video or composite. Then what intention manufacturers have in TV video out?

For home use, you can test that with VLC. It has "video wall" feature. Example : YouTube - Split video over 2 Screens

For 2*2 (4 Monitors/TVs) you will need 2 Video cards. Each card can support 2 monitors. Some cards can support 4, but those are expensive. Total cost of such a PC is approx 20k
