All,
I currently own a peachtree nova 300 Integrated amplifier.i am looking at upgrading.
can anyone suggest? My key requirements

A) Features
1) Great built in DAC
2)MM/MC for turntables
3) USB,RCA,Coax,Fiber compatibles
4) low maintenance

B) Sound
1) Warm
2) Detailed presentation at high volumes

my current amplifier meets all of it, but I am in the mood to take up a notch or 2 ahead

Is Anthem STR a good bet?

Look forward to your recommendations

Anthem +1

+1 for Anthem. I remember listening to an Anthem AV amp, and it’s precision and resolution was something I hadn’t heard before. I am sure their stereo amps would be as stellar.

Than you all. i checked with the dealer and the rates quoted is high.
Another thought.. Do I get a great power amp preferably Cambridge Audio Edge series and use my existing Peachtree Nova 300 as a pre-amp? can this better an integrated option?

Hi Jayram,

According to the Masterswitch review, in the link below, the Nova 300 is a keeper & is simply excellent value for money over the Anthem STR which is much more expensive though a stellar amp but not worth the upgrade . If there is the money to spend, then the Anthem would be fine. You can always use the Nova 300 as a power amp for its great specs.

Nitin

If you like the Anthem and feel that it's worth it , then better to go with your heart.

The price point is a deterrent, now:)

Judging from their article ,even the Master Switch reviewers felt that though the sound Of the Anthem STR was great, but the increment in price didn't justify the improvement in sound. Its arc room correction also must be adding to the improvement. You can even explore the Luxman as suggested by Oracle. Since this site is based from Kitab Mahal, Charni road, Mumbai, you can personally check it out when the Covid situation eases.

Good idea. I will visit Kitab Mahal once things normalise. But I am also keen on forum members inputs about using Peachtree Nova as pre amp and going for CA edge series power-amp

For Luxman reviews you can check with FM Vivek Batra. Recently he purchased the Luxman and seems very happy with it. His is a class A amp.

It will be good if you can call them and get more details if the item is with them. Since they posted this on May 26th, they maybe open now. Good luck!
