I was able to "hack" a lm317/lm337 pcb to make it work with a simple zener regulated power supply as well as a simple capacitance multiplier power supply. Its actually not much of work due to similarities in their supplies. I have uploaded the sim results and articles on my site, these are a little large files and I suspect the server is a little slow, so a little bit of patience will help. I am still trying to figure out some ripple measurement system using soundcards and will post results once I have some actual measurements.

Re: Using an LM317/Lm337 PCB to make a zener regulated or capacitance multiplier supp

Hi Doors.

Is there any chance that the zener reg or the cap-mult performance can be improved by a second order RC filter at the base of the darlington?

yes that helps, but difficult to fit at an lm317 pcb without cutting traces or a lot of juggelery at the bottom of the board. If doing a fresh design, both will benefit a little with a second order rc filter.

Some of the model and symbol files were missing from the simulation zip files. I have included these now, if someone wishes to try it, then please redownload the file and it should work fine now. There is a Readme file also. I tested with a fresh ltspice install and all three sims worked ok.
