using pioneer bluray player as a cd player

hello , im planning to use pioneer bdp 160 as a cd player for my new stereo setup. im not having a budget to include a new tv. im planning to us it as a cd player and occasionally to play usb mp3. can I operate the unit without connecting it to a tv or an external display. my other propsed componenets are onkyo a 9030 and polk tsx 220. thanks in advance

You can use it as a cd player as it will start playing automatically but playing through USB will require a display. You can add a small TV for around 10K or less
 
It may be too late to reply. But you can use a hdmi to rca converter box (not converter cable) to connect bdp-160 with existing old tv.
