Hello all,

My wife an family got impatient with my unending research for that perfect Plasma TV. So I thought I would a 32 inch LCD as a stand by. I have zeroed in on Panasonic Viera TH-L32U30D. My reason: IPS-Alpha panel is better for sports and fast moving objects.

Suggestions, Please!!

Thanks in advance

I was looking for a 32" lcd a year back and I had finalized between this and a Sony 32ex400. The reason I did not choose Panasonic in the end is because I felt it oversaturated the colors with a particular tendency towards the reds. I also had a home demo where I played around with the Sony and the Panasonic for a day and settled for the Sony as I felt it had more natural color and better contrast and black level.

But the panny has better viewing angles.

The ex400 is not available anymore. Just wanted to share what I felt about the Panasonic.

Thanks for the reply. In the demo I had the Panasonic piece did not have any such problem. Are you sure of the settings? I could be wrong, you know. Thanks any way.

Lijo, You bought a panasonic ?
I think you had the same doubt 2 months ago, isn't it ?

@begarkitta
I bought panasonic L32U30D model almost a year back. Am happy with the buy.

Lijo and Screenest12,

Thanks. While I know that LCD as technology is already pre-historic and that I have no right to expect great things from it (at least from a 32 incher), there is nothing wrong in expecting decent perfomance (especially when I am paying 29500 Rs.)

Tirthankar said that he thought that this particular panasonic model was rather reddish, or pro-red. Has anyone of you observed this?

Also, motion-blur was not noticeably improved on this model considering that this is ips-alpha pane.

If I may ask............what was the problem with finding the perfect plasma? We can help you with that. Meanwhile for 32inches you might find the below links helpful:

akashr,

Thanks. I am absolutely sure of (1) the infinite richness of Plasma TV -- no LED or LCD can come near it. (2) I have zeroed in on TH-P50ST30D (panasonic). The slight problem is that we are moving homes. Once we get this piece, the 32" LCD will be games and the guest room.

I have been through that LCD buying site (thanks all the same); but, you know, the model names are very different and one cannot be sure whether those fellows overseas are referring to the models we get here in India.

Thanks again.

Hellow again!

Please could some one tell me how to check the usage hours of panasonic viera-TH-L32U30D. You see, the local panasonic brand shop is offering me this TV for 29500. But another dealer, Mssrs. Adishwar is offering the same piece for Rs. 26000/-. I am slightly weary of buying it from non-brand shops and therefore need to know how to check the usage hour to avoid buying a demo piece.

Thanks.

Buy for 26. Resetting to factory settings will remove the usage of hours. So you can't do anything about that

Purchased TH-L32U30D (Panasonic 32 inch LCD Full HD) TV yesterday. The Panasonic brand shop quoted 29500 and when I went to them again to finalize the purchase the fellow there said that their warehouse is closed for the day and that I should come again. I told myself what the hell and went to Reliance Digital (Mangalore) although I do not have a very good opinion of them. The sales people (as everywhere) are downright ignorant and lie effortlessly on issues of technology. They agreed to sell me the piece for 28.2K. I bought it.

Since I am a plasma person, I did not expect from this stand-by Telly. My observation:

1. Standard Definition is worse than on my Sony Trinitron CRT
2. Picture quality (Black level etc) is ok for this kind of telly. Between Sony, Samsung, LG and Panasonic , there is not really much to chose in the 32 inch range.
3. The telly plays all the formats through USB. But when I connected my half TB hard disk through usb, certain sound formats were not supported.
4. The telly comes to life only in the 1080p format.
5. Besides settings such as contrast, tint, brightness, colour, etc, you have three standard settings: normal, vivid, cinema mode 1 and 2. The cinema mode is unusable.

Final opinion? Buy this but do not expect great things. LCDs and LEDs are no match for a good CRT or Plasma.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
