VU 50" Pixelight HDR Tv

Hi

This should help in understanding HDR

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-dynamic-range_imaging

VU head office is in Mumbai at Andheri and is one of the best when it comes to displaying video content...a few select models have good sound output...the rest need to be hooked to external speakers....

VU warranty is limited to 1 year...earlier it was offered as 3 years.....

You could also look at other brands...Videocon also is doing well if you are on a tight budget.....check Toshiba also....

Thanks, I know what is hdr, was just wondering if this is same or some fancy name thrown about by VU.

Would love to hook my Xbox one with it and see if hdr mode is displayed on the TV :p

Following this thread :D

I am still comparing between good panels FHD @55-60 inches (Philips, Panasonic, Infocus)
and
Budget "decent" panels UHD @ 50 inch. (TCL/Vu)

Just CAN NOT Conclude!! :o

Ace.

I stuck in the same dilemma as u... But left out vu completely due to their awful after sales feedback I've been getting and as a product too not too sure according to most people here too have told me to stay away from vu.
As of now my contenders are lg 49 inch n maybe panssonic 49" or infocus 60 though it's a complete gamble to go fr this brand. Panasonic as well has bad after sales Ive noticed even in a place like gurgaon. So leaning towards the basic lg 49 inch and then 3 yrs down thr like look for a good 60-65 inch... And maybe oled at that time.

Regarding Philips 4k in case ur looking at, I already have one and u can go through the 55 inch uhd thread where in I've posted my feedback and ordeal I am going through.
Its a good Tv fr a good price consedring it's 4k n great after sales in gurgaon region. But, got it replaced due to excessive Backlight bleeding issues in the 49 inch model.. So that's a warning from my side. I've been told it's present in all Philips 4k n getting a refund now from them. U can see photos n my story on the thread.

Stay away from tcl too, non existent after sales and Backlight bleeding n clouding issues, though good PQ and quality of their 48 inch curved but iffy experience due to after sales n the panel issues.

I had bought 2 - 32' LCD TVs from VU 5-6 yrs back and had no problem. Even the after sales service was good. Since its a Mumbai based company for me servicing in Mumbai was never an issue.

For new TVs It continues to offer 3 years of warranty if you buy it from their store.

Well, that's great to know someone who's happy hwith vu, till now have only been getting negative feedback.

Well, I asked vu on their FB page, I got a reply saying 1 yr warranty only. Do they have any stores in Delhi n gurgaon?

My feedback, copied verbatim from here

I have their 65 "HDR" TV (older model?). It not really an HDR TV. The whole 10 bit panel with wide color gamut is just a marketing gimmick and not true. It does not accept HDR signals and only accepts normal 8-bit signals. I had a long conversation with their customer support over mail for the same where they tried to put a spin every which way to support their claims, sometimes even contradicting what they said in previous instance, including a blast from the past saying its "HDR ready" TV. They could not explain what "HDR ready" means.

What I realised is as a brand, Vu is not trustworthy and I will never buy from them in the future. Its ok to buy entry level TV sets from them but for higher level ones, I would suggest going for Samsung or LG. You might get a slightly smaller sized panel for the money but they are more reputed and reliable and more honest with their claims.

I have been meaning to write about this whole cheating and false advertising by Vu for a while but could not get time to do so. Seeing your post made me to warn you about not taking their claims at face value and make a mistake like me.

thanks man, i have dropped the idea. I am planning to go KU6000 way, although it is 8 Bit, it still accepts HDR signal and displays it too. It is costing me 69800, of course an imported piece, guess i can live with the risk. after 1 yr the risk is negated anyway.

I have a 50in led from VU. I think it's great value for money product. I had a 50 Inc Panasonic plasma before this.

I was was repaired 3 times and then a new TV was provided as a replacement. In total the replacement plasma also went kaput. This was all in a period of 3 years.

Hence made my mind to buy economical tvs going forward.

There's atleast 1 review on FK suggesting latest one indeed support HDR and Local dimming. If true, this is the most VFM HDR TV with potentially better black levels than entry level mainstream TVs

I have seen youtube videos of this tv. Seems really good picture quality for the price indeed. Haven't seen in the store though.

I got this TV. Running into an issue with dark corners in just 1 month. They are not up for a replacement but would want to service it. Except that their service center is not in every town and i have to send it via courier.

That common on an LED backlit screens these days. Earlier they were bright (flashlight issue). To fix, they now have thicker fusion paper which makes those areas darker in bright images.

Go to brand like Samsung etc..

Yes. But the Hisense TVs have quite good ratings and reviews.
Also samsung other than SUHD, UHD are all similar to Vu or Hisense.
