I saw a VU 55" LED TV for 79k in Croma.
It sure was huge and looked menacing and the PQ with Tata Sky HD was comparable to a LG LCD nearby.
Details were not great but in the range of 5 series samsung. Black levels were a bit poor.

Anybody wants to have a look, please do.

Hey, i too wonder how this brand would be. The prices are really attractive. I see it nowhere else but at chroma. They told me they had installed a number of these at a reputed hotel in Mumbai. It's a US brand. The question is trustworthiness. What do you say?

VU is synonymous with Croma and like most other lower rung brands, they are manufactured in China/Taiwan and shipped here.

I've seen this set in Croma outlets in Bangalore as well and it did look mighty and bright, but the colours, detail and PQ did not match the mainstream brands - at least to my eyes. I did not try changing any settings on it though.

IMHO, warranty extendability and terms should be a key consideration for potential buyers.

This 55 vu led seems to be there in croma stores from eternity. 1 year ago it was 1.15L, 3 months ago it was 90k and now it is 79k.

Please check the manufacturing date and see when it was imported here. And bargain harder and if you get it for 65-70k it might be a good bargain for a 55incher.

But do not compare it with samsung sony leds !!

i agree with you all. i too have seen VU at croma outlets. if seen from a distance and compared with other mainstream brand TVs on either sides of the VU, the picture of the TV in subject looks a bit washed out and 'lightened' up. blacks are really poor, as blasto said. but i dont remember seeing the 55 incher of VU, so cant comment on that. looked close-up (4-5 ft), and the TV's PQ seemed decent. croma is full of VU TVs BTW.

on a side note, has anyone seen a haier LCD/LED-LCD in action ? one of the big televideo retail outlets here in mumbai has taken the agency of haier, and i saw a variety of haier TVs there, from small to large sizes, LCDs and backlits. but sadly all of them were switched OFF as i went there when the shutters were being pulled down, so couldnt have a look at the PQ. but the TVs looked quite good. would love someone's feedback on them who has got the chance to demo any unit.

51D550 for 62k or 50VT20 for 75k is a far better deal than buying a 55 VU at 79k. 4 or 5 inches does not make that much of difference.

Yes it does. I was surprised too.
After a certain level every inch makes a big impact on viewing.

Definetely. But if it can be negotiated to 65k, I think it is good value.
Never saw one in home environment though.

it does make a lot of difference ,I have seen 40" and 42" tv side by side and you can easily make out difference even though its only 2".

I agree completely with Blasto on the extra inches as it really makes difference ......i had originally planned to buy a 60" minimum (was exploring LG as an option... PK series ....but was witheld due to complaints on the quality) when the VT deal came through and i gave in.

I had seen demo of 60" PK550 & 950 and i still remem the overwhelming experience due to the size....

The Diagonal measurement for size is misleading BTW.
Screen area is the correct measurement. The diagonal measurement has been carried forward from CRT days when the screen sizes are almost same.
The area increases square times when the diagonal increases.

Checkout Visual TV Size Comparison : Display Wars to see actual diagonal and area differences.
No wonder our perceptions are different when seeing slightly bigger TVs.

BTW, After 50", it is as hard to make bigger TVs going upward.

Thanks for that link as I upgrading from 32" LCD tv to 43" plasma I can see area increases more than double from 437 to 887 square inches, so it will huge upgrade considering this.

Can any dealer / distributer provide the diwali freebies i.e soundbar , 3D glasses nd 3D shrek now as well .?

By any chance .?? :O

These freebies must have been supplied by Samsung to the dealers per TV set right .? So they may have them still .

Want to buy a 55" LED ....

Plz reply ....
