Vu 60 Full HD Edge LED TV for 80K

Not sure if anyone noticed this new release by VU...60 incher for 80K hyeah:, but not aval on Flipkart... I think you can place order thru VU website only....

In the Technical specifications of this model, it is mentioned that Backlight control - "Yes" and Adaptive backlight - "Yes"... Is this similar to Micro Dimming/Local dimming from big brands?

Anyone in Mumbai took a sneak/ demo of this model?

I tried using adaptive backlight with my VU TV and found them a little less responsive to input signal. I prefer a fix backlight in its place. With the fixed backlight you can set up the backlight manually anywhere from 0 to 100. In my setup its 25 which is more than sufficient.

In the adaptive backlight the backlight automatically varies based on the input video content to give the correct backlight required for the input video. But in sudden changes from light to dark images you can actually notice the backlight changes which sometimes becomes annoying. For some kind of still videos like cricket matches or TV serials the adaptive backlight will be good and not for rapid action movies.

Though at 80K is more tempting ,Please just dont go by the cost alone as you might get disappointed with the PQ and trust me if you are existing plasma user you would with the current setup .

I have seen this TV and unfortunately they dont have HD setup box in the demo center . I am planning to record few HD videos from my setop box and play to see if it is anything better to make a choice.

All said and done

Please Demo (the videos/channels which you usually watch ) before buying and if you are satisfied only then go ahead. You can demo this in bangalore and bombay .

I think this being a only an EDGE lit LCD-LED TV, makes it hard to compare with plasma... May be if it had Local/Micro dimming, would be a wiser comparison...

But otherwise, very hard to find a 60 inch from international brands without any smart & 3D functionality for even double the price of VU....So i guess that makes it fair buy....

As you said, demo is good before deciding...
