I had been tempted by it but there were not enough reviews except for the gushing ones on Flipkart itself from excited new owners. After some research, I discovered that it is a re-badged HiSense 75M7900 and while the expert reviews branded it as average and the HDR claim pretty much bogus, they nevertheless were impressed by it's SDR capabilities and comparable to mainstream brands. As well, owners in the UK and the U.S. (where it is rebadged as the Sharp Aquos LC-75N8000U) were very happy with it's performance and due to it being much cheaper than competing 75" TV's. As my viewing is mainly TV (sports, nature, documentary, shows etc.), Youtube and other internet video channels with very little movie watching, I am not in particular need of HDR so I took the plunge and ordered one. It was delivered the next day but the installer did not have the correct wall mount so I temporarily placed it on some small cabinets in my TV room and badgered Flipkart to sort the issue out. A few days later, they sent the correct mount to the installer who came and fixed the TV to the wall with it and now it is like a framed picture, albeit a huge one.

I bought it mainly for a step up in size (I already have a 65" VU UHD TV) and the difference in viewing is as impressive as when I went from 55" to 65". I have been tweaking the settings using SMPTE patterns with RGB color filters as well as the eye, given that 1080p TV content quality varies widely but am still to get the perfect picture as there are so many adjustments to be tweaked. But what I have now itself is very watchable with the great detail that comes with stepping up to 4K. Watching native 4K content is a joy. 1080p HD content upscaling is not as "processed" as other mainstream brands which is how I like it. Blacks are really good and there is hardly any clouding common with edge-lit TV's (though only time will tell if it will turn up later). All in all, I am happy with my purchase for my viewing preferences and will keep you all posted as to how it is working out.

So you confirm no HDR support? Are Netflix, Amazon and YouTube 4k enabled? Can it play in native 4k through USB and DLNA?

Did you try connecting it to a HDR enabled player? One review on FK suggests it does support full dynamic range through nVidia Shield and HRD10 formats (not sure through USB, Apps or HDMI)

Appreciate your feedback.

I have been very busy so couldn't put the TV through it's full paces. I have played a few HDR demos through a 3.0 USB stick as well as through the Nvidia Shield console. They look great. Apparently HDR automatically kicks in from HDR enables sources with the latest firmware update as there is no menu option to enable it (as per HiSense version owners). I am yet to confirm this. Will provide a more detailed review in the coming days. Damages was about 2L during the recent Flipkart sale after discounts.

Here are the settings as recommended to enable HDR for the Nvidia Shield (Color Space, Advanced Settings). On the TV side, I chose the Enhanced Format for HDMI 2.0. I have also enabled CEC and the TV recognizes the Nvidia Shield as the attached device, so I can control it with the TV remote. Nice.

Nice review. After reading this i am quite tempted with this. I only need as large TV i can get for decent price. HDR and 4k are of no use honestly as most content is either SD/HD and anything in between. How is your experience with SD content?

Can you tell me where you found this out?

1080P HD content properly up-converted to 4K is fabulous and quite close to actual 4K content visually, so 4K is a must have if not for future-proofing your TV purchase. We now have a lot of HD content on cable and satellite so it helps on that front. Also, genuine broadband is available through companies like ACT with enough speed and FUP limits to stream 4K content right off the internet and watch it without breaking the bank. I can't vouch for HDR as I haven't seen too much of it to make out the differences.

Not sure whether I can post a link of another site here, but search for "Hisense 75M7900 75 inch 4K Ultra HD TV with HDR" thread on avforums. It's one and the same. Also, I checked the HiSense manual and the menus are almost the same as that of the VU. Even the firmware follows the same naming conventions on both brands.

All of Vu Tv's are rebranded Hisense Tv almost everyone knows this. Op is right there is no doubt that this is a Hisense rebranded Tv.

Thats great to know.

I inquired vu sales thru email and they quoted 265000 unlike the flipkart offer of 210000(not available in my location). Haven't got a reply last 2 days when i asked why the difference.

Don't buy from Vu directly they quote higher price. If the it's not available at your pincode search locally for Vendors who sell Vu tv's. A lot of local retailers now sell Vu's.

I am posting a few pictures from "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime in Ultra-HD and HDR. I have been tweaking colors using the various adjustments available but they are still a little weird, especially flesh tones. But it is getting there and the picture detail is really good. As for the picture, I am not sure if HDR it is such a huge step up. Would love to see some other properly calibrated HDR displays before making up my mind.

Coming back to the TV, the blacks are really good and I hardly see any clouding in a standard lit room. There's a bit at the center top but not particularly noticeable. The most dramatic difference for me is that, between the 65" TV it replaced is that TV watching gets immersive at that size.

I just read your post since I forgot about this thread long ago. I haven't tweaked the settings much - essentially the brightness is around 48-49, contrast is 52 and color settings range from between 36-38. The backlight is set at 30 and I use the warm picture setting. That's it. Since I watch only satellite TV and Internet content, the source quality varies a lot so I do minor tweaking of the above settings for the best picture. Also, your viewing tastes may vary so adjust accordingly. For HDR, enable Enhanced Format in HDMI settings as I showed above. That automatically detects and display HDR enabled content.

One other thing is to let the TV break in for a few days and let it settle down. For me, the colors were very strange despite all the adjustments after turning the TV on for the first time but gradually became more realistic after that. One more thing, update the firmware manually if the set hasn't already done it automatically.

Hope this helps.

Are these settings used in Theatre mode or Standard mode ?

Also i checked online for the firmware update and the TV is showing no update available. Can you pl provide me the link from where to download the software and do manually update.

I use standard mode. As for the firmware, my TV automatically did an upgrade after being first connected to the net. So if yours is connected to the net and you get the above message, it has the latest firmware or has already sync'd with the server. So there's no need for a manual update.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
