Hi ,

There have been a lot of ask , questions on VU tv. I have visited the demo center twice and want to share my feedback and opinion on the TV.

if you own a existing small tv (led hd/ready/full hd) and wanna upgrade to 42+ inch (with limited budget) go for it as teh sheer size would make a difference.

As far as PQ is concerned, i auditioned the lower end models to the UHD tv , it is just about OK as i have a PANNY plasma 42 inch and i was planning to upgrade to 65 inch and to my eyes it is not comparable to PANNY

However , tried with a 4k upscaler , quality seems to be better but not closer to plasma. The only which looked better was SONY 4k models but the high cost of sony 65 inch 4k just put me off.

I played a 1080 video thru a 4K upscaler on the VU UHD as well as FULL HD TV and it was defintely better than playing direct. Please note none of the VU UHD models have a built in 4K upscaler, what it essentially means it will not by default upgrade the 1080 to 4K , you need a converter for that and i am not sure if you a get a 4k upscaler which can setup box also as a input and upscale . So suggest staying away from the UHD models rather their FULL HD TV are more VFM in my opinion.

It is better. Some of the models have built in subwoofer which provides more clarity but dont expect anything near sony . It is definitely better than sharp( i also auditioned a 60 inch sharp led) . Go for the those models which has built in subwoofer for better sound

Overall , It is a decent upgrade fron <32 inch to 42+ inch , however if you already have a 42 inch and looking for upgrade to 55+ than i would not recommend .

Again it is my opinion and to me pq is most important and most of the TV including some of the samsung models dont reflect the actual pixalation as some of these looks like badly done cartoons.

If I understood your correctly -

1) The full HD tvs from Vu are good VFM
2) The 4k not so much, cause they dont have a built in up-scaler from 1080p to 4k

Do you know what entry level 4k tvs come with an upscaler?

Thats right.

AFAIK , all of samsung and sony 4K tv comes with a built in upscaler but none in VU

Was checking VU website and here's what it states:

Upscale Everything in 4K

Upscale Everything You Watch to 4K Ultra HD Vu uses the world's most advanced new-generation image quality enhancement technology to adjust and repair any color deviation to bring you breathtaking true to life colors and images.

VU is known to lie.

Anyway, I have a LG 42" PQ60 plasma. Would you suggest to go for a VU 42" 3D Smart/2D Smart TV? Can't upsize because of room constraints.

I am currently feeding a 1080p upsacaled video to my VU HDMI input and it does not upscale any further. The info key shows a resolution of 1080p. May be an external upscaler from 1080p to 4k could be of any help? Not sure if such an upscaler exist!:yahoo::yahoo:

Today's AVR have the capability of 1080p to 4K upscaling, guess some Bluray players also should have this feature....
