Want to Purcahse a Home Theater

Dear All,

I want to purchase a home theater in one months time . My budget would be 15k to 20 k.

Currently I am using the SAmsung TV which is basic model( worth around 8k ) and my home theater should be compatable with the TV.

Please help me out to have right choice...

DONT ever buy Sony/Phillips/Panasonic/LG and other such consumer brands. These units have inbuild player and amplifier. If anything in this system breaks you have to replace the whole system.
Buy a system with a separate AVR. The closest to your budget is YAMAHA 196 which costs 21-23K. Or start of with AVR and 2 speakers and gradually build towards a 5.1 system as money permits.

with this budget try out used av gear.. watch out for sale thread ...this will make ur entry into never ending journey of ht/hifi world with little ease

would you mention the TV that your are using ?

does it accept HDMI ?

HD ready or FULL HD ?

+1 to above advises for used AV gear. most of the stuff here is in mint condition. keep a check . also as suggested you can try for AVR + 2 speakers and then gradually build.

if quality matters avoid consumer grade HT system like sony/samsung/philips/lg etc..

if for new slightly increase your budget and get a yamaha yht -199 for 20k +- 1k

Dear All,

Thanks for your inputs. Currently I am Using Samsung ( don't know exact model but cost around 9k purchased in 2009) . I can stretch my budget till 20 to 25k for good sound system . Plz suggest good one
