Guys ,
A Uncle Of Mine Wants a Basic DVD Player For His Personal Use ,It Should Be Easily Repairable And also Should Play All DVD .Please Help Max Budget Is Under 10 ,The cheaper The Better

You can get most decent DVD players for less than 3.5K.

DVD Players have almost reached the same level of maturity as CD players. For most basic purposes - you cannot go wrong with any branded item - i.e Samsung, philips, lg, sony, etc...

I have bought lesser brands of Coby and Magnavox for some family members
Adv-
- they are much cheaper (though not by much than the name brands)
- they can be hacked much easier to play all regions

Disadvantage is that they might be ugly or slightly big or lack bells and whistles.

I have had some Sony DVD players reject some local DVDs , VCDs .

If all he is going to do is play some movies and not worry about HT setup, effects, Plasma HD etc... then go for the most inexpensive name brand that is on sale.

If there are no local advertisements then look at futurebazaar.com or similar sites for good deals.

You might want to consider PS2. I have seen its performance as standalone DVD player and its quite satisfying. Nowadays comes under 5.2k but if budget is around 10k then why don't you consider a BD player?

I would suggest LG DV388H. It is somewhere around Rs.3000. It has all type of output HDMI/Component/Composite/Optical/Coaxial. Upconversion through HDMI is possible(though I have not tested it). Plays divx/xvid/mp3/wma/vob files.

Personally I think a Pioneer will be far better than any other model.

And Amarbir, do not look for repair. If a DVD Player works for two years and fails, just throw it away and buy a new one. The repair costs will be more than the price of a new unit !!

And 10K is quiet a lot for a DVD player. You can get a Sony Blu-ray for that price that can also play a DVD.

Cheers

I just bagged a sammy HD 860 before 5 days from a samsung brand shop. model is old but international having HDMI and many nice features except usb which I anyways not gonna used. It was lying there a last fully packed piece which was unnoticed due to newer models. Picked up for 2.8k with HDMI cable free. MRP written on the box is 8K. I would say its amazing player. Check out if you can see a pioneer older model too. More than money worth.

Amarbir,

Being a dealer, you should know more about such things and have people in your sales network who can provide this than most of us. I am a bit surprised about your inquiry here.

Anyway, you can find Samsung, Pioneer and LG as brands that can get your uncle the player he desires.

Go for any between Philips, Samsung, LG or Sony.
Features to be looked for are a. USB interface, Up-scaling through HDMI and directly conversion of normal music CDs to MP3 files without the aid of computer and copy to USB drive (pen drive.
For mentioned budget, BD palyers of Sony, Philips, LG, Onida etc. are available.
