so something went wrong with your Schitt unit ... ...... I know it might be a long shot - Shitt as a company takes great pride in their products - and although used unit - try reaching out to them .... this can’t be unique problem and if they have identified this elsewhere - I am sure they will guide you... sorry !

Im sorry for the confusion. I meant to say i switched the esoteric with another cd player keeping the rest of the chain same and that worked fine.
So SA50>freya>rotel = very very low sound. But another cd player>freya>rotel = normal sound

Yes.
It was a loose solder connection on one of the boards apparently. Re-soldering it did the trick.
