Wharfdale 10.1 + Topping D2

Folks,

This will be my first step into the audiophile world and to keep it simple...

i'm planning to pick up a pair of wharfdale 10.1 through the group buy offer and have been looking for DAC/ AMP to power these beauties!

My Setup -

LAPTOP + Extended HD Monitor +Apple Tv2 connect thru HDMI to the Monitor

looking at a DAC/ AMP with USB (for the laptop) Optical in (for the apple Tv 2 - cos thats the only port it has) and the defaults RCA... and also a budget one

could only find this one - but dont see any reviews around!

i've been loooking for a similar set up for use with a laptop but even on a tighter budget so was thinkng of a 10.0
after researching a bit i wonder though what would be better

a usb dac like nuforce udac/musiland + topping 20/21 + speakers or

topping d2 + speakers

because there is no info to be found on topping d2 on the net except basic spec's. i dont know how many watts it produces.
the advantage is the optical that d2 has.
the price difference between the dac + amp and the d2 will be about 2k i think.

im a noob too . would be nice for some experts to chime in.

also according to this link one can't adjust the speaker volume through the knob, only headphones (d2) . that's a bit cumbersome for me.

true ...there seems to be no info on the topping d2 - which for me is apt with the kind of setup i'm looking at..

i just bumped into this - and quite interested..
