Hi All,

I've tried reading as many posts as I possibly could - and I must admit its not getting any easier.

I auditioned the Wharfe 9.5 and the 9.2 and for some reason felt the 9.2s sounded better for the mids and that the 9.5 needed more volumes to sound as good - small demo room at Vector systems.

I listen to Soft rock, Jazz, Bollywood retro, Instrumental fusion and Classical devotionals the most and watch 2-3 movies a month.

I have a active listening area of 10 * 14 sq. ft (In an L shaped hall cum dining measuring (10 * 15) + (20 * 6) = 270 sq. ft.)

Though I love the asthetics floorstanders offer, I have begun to understand that bookshelves make sense in smaller areas.

Just two questions:
Are the Diamond 9.5 an overkill for my room size?
Will the 9.2s mandate the use of a sub?

Thanks again in advance.

Regards,
Pannags

Hi Pannags,

I will be glued to this thread. Any reason why u didnt listen to 10.2. I am also in a similar dilemma. 9.2 or 10.2 ?

10.2 sounded with more bass. yes at vectors. Lets see if we can do a group buy once you have decided.

Cheers

Hi Murali,

Sure please.

BTW, I auditioned the 10.1, 9.2 and the 9.5s, and must admit that the 9.2s sounded the best.

My biggest dilemma has been whether to go for FS or BS, especially since my "active" listening area is relatively small. Now I begin to wonder if BS + Stands are a better way to start.

cheers,

Hi Pannags,

I think BS should do the justice for the room size. Mine is 15x18 and i am doing way with FS. Its an old BPL FS.

What was the price quoted. It was 14.5K. Any idea is it the right price or can still be brought down ?

cheers

9.2 should fit the bill. Should sound good with a steroe amp ( like Norge or Marantz etc.. ) Many threads in this forum. I believe sonosphere is selling his Norge + 9.2 combo.. check that out.

Go for subwoofer if you intend to build a 5.1 home system.

If you want to build a 5.1 then you may look up kapvin thread on selling hiks Yamaha AVR.

Your ears will be your guiding light..
