What cables/connectors/ adapter do i need?

I have an LG 32LV3730 LED smart tv and an unknown 4.1 channel speaker set. And i would like to connect the both. My first option is to connect using a 3.5mm port (on my tv) to 2 the RCA ports behind my speaker. However i have been told that i would not be able to achieve full sound performance with this option. I am posting the picture of the ports behind the TV (1st pic) and behind the speaker (2nd pic).

Could some one advice what are all my options; cables, connectors/ adapters etc that i need to achieve exceptional sound performance from my speakers.

Your TV only has optical out for audio while the speaker set has RCA (two cable stereo) inputs. Get an optical to RCA converter from amazon.in or eBay. You will need an optical cable and an RCA cable.

Thanks much . However would this arrangement provide better sound output than the arrangement of using RCA cables from speaker to the 3.5mm audio jack on TV

What i mean is, would i be able to achieve surround sound with any of the above set ups or do i need some kind of receiver or additional component?
