Hi,
One of my friends wanted to buy a 40 inch LED TV and she shortlisted these two models. There is a price difference of 10K.
5330R - 48K
5600 - 58K (they are giving wifi dongle and skype camera free which my friend does not need).

Only difference I could find in the specifications is that 5600 is Slim LED and other one is just LED.

She is confused now which one to buy.
Is Slim LED makes any difference in the picture quality or just the thickness of the screen?

Please provide some input.

Regards,
Prashanth

Slim LED does not make much difference. The slim LED is an edge lit model wherein LEDs are around the edges of the TV instead on the back. This allowed the panels to be extremely thin. While they are sleek and sexy to look at, edge lighting LEDs can lead to light bleeding. Light bleeding is an effect where the edges of the panel appear brighter than the center. See pic here:

But light bleeding may not be noticeable in brightly pictures. It will be noticed only when the picture has extreme contrast such as end-titles of a movie (white text on black).

You (or rather your friend) must demo the prodicts with various sources - SD and HD - and then decide which TV you like better. If the higher cost TV looks better, decide whether it is worth paying 10k extra. I doubt that there is much difference between the two. Samsung groups all similar PQ TVs into one series such Series 5, Series 6, etc. The various models within the same series are having minimal basic differences but may come with additional features, accessories, etc.

Thanks Just4kix,
Your inputs are enough to decide on which one to buy.
I would convey this information to my friend. Let her take a call after comparing both the TVs side by side and some calculation and amount of usage of the free stuff for 10K for costlier model.

Thanks again for quick reply.

Samsung 'EH' models are 'Direct LED' TVs & they are inferior to 'ES' models which are 'Edge LED'.

Wrong. Sony EX330/430 and Samsung EH5300/EH6030 and a few others are Direct LED backlit models not EDGE LED.

Well i knew you would fail to read the post properly before posting a reply,it is a known fact given your past history of replies.

Read again, i said almost all(which means there were some exceptions), and i explicitly mentioned one exception as the sony 9 series because HX9xx series of televisions have local dimming.

direct-lit LED LCD is inferior edge-lit LED LCD.

And there is no Sony 9 series LCD
:signthankspin:
KDL-55HX925 : HX925 Series : BRAVIA HD TV (LED & LCD) : Sony India
KDL-65HX925 : HX925 Series : BRAVIA HD TV (LED & LCD) : Sony India

^

Samsung has 6 ,7 , 8, 9 series LCDs. I think you feel Sony and Samsung are same ? :p

Sony HX9 series HX being main series and 9 being sub series. EX,BX,HX,NX are Sony Bravia series name not 6,7,8,9.

^Samsung has ES,EH,D and E followed by numbers,Sony has EX,HX,NX and bla bla followed by a numbering system.Oh well, it is anyways pointless talking sense into you.

This honestly makes zero sense to me,i am not even sure what you are trying to ask here or what you mean by "name not 6,7,8".

@OP i am really sorry for the OT.
