I hope it's not against the Forum Rules. Please delete thread if it's against it. Just discussing what poison we're going to have / had today.

So what are you having or you had today ? Please give a small review and also mention the price you paid (price varies from state to state).

I had Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc yesterday. I couldn't understand what it said as everything was in French. Color is pale, cloudy and quite foamy. It would seem like wheat beer. The smell of lager and citrus is superb. It's not that bitter or bitter at all, it's actually very refreshing. I had only two as the price is quite high. 330ml pint costs Rs. 260 each.

People just ask others, "what's your poison ?" like what you would like to drink. Although I'm not quite sure why they say that :P

Glengrant 10. I was very surprised by how good it was - smooth and sweet. Not an Islay at all - the exact opposite but good in its own way.

Yesterday was in "dying " joint in south mumbai ... called Cafe Oval ,in Eros building at Churchgate. Saturday night and it was half empty....had Kingfisher pitcher, then fosters and probably first time in life London Pilsner ( LP) realized that against its low price LP is surprisingly good,

this is going to be informative thread for me, i have very limited knowledge on these :)
i just know one thing

I feel incredibly sad that "town" is crumbling so rapidly as it is. There is so much history and culture and collective memories and if nothing else, idiosyncracises.

I agree. For the price, it is very good. Tried Golden Eagle? Another low priced beer. It used to be good before. Not sure whether it is the same now.

That's in the daytime. Come nighttime it is just like places downtown elsewhere. Seedy! But I must admit, the "underbelly" has character too :D

Had Indus Pride last night. Didn't feel I'm drinking beer, it's more like Tuborg Booster with fruity flavour but much better than Tuborg Booster. I had the Citrusy Cardamom and it's full of spicy flavour. I'll try other flavours too. Paid 70/- per pint.

Oh, you always get healthy doses of the bad with the good in Bombay. Or I guess in any other big city. I had a huge culture shock when I came to Bombay. And many struggles and brushes with the seedy kind. Even though I came from Delhi which is not exactly a village.

Still ended up loving the city though. And especially "town" which always had a certain unique vibe to it - even though I never lived in town (lived in Vile Parle). The old parsis, the irani cafes, the diamond street, the stock exchange, the old movie theaters, nariman point, kala ghoda area. One of my fondest possessions is a painting purchased from a struggling artist on the street outside Jehangir.

Sorry, I totally got off topic.

I'm sure you're enjoying your poison and getting all emotional here :) What are you having, hmmmmmmmm ???

I'm going to have DS Black in the evening as I'm running on fumes now. So don't mind if I get a little grumpy in my posts tonight :'(
