I'm sure you're enjoying your poison and getting all emotional here :) What are you having, hmmmmmmmm ???

Haha good catch! :)

I've been trying out different stouts. There are a few good microbreweries here that make really good stout. A great winter drink, IMO. Much better than Guinness and the like. I was trying Northwind Imperial Stout by Two Brothers brewing company, and Old Rasputin by Northcoast brewing company.

IMHO, the microbreweries in the US beat the pants off the more popular and more expensive European beers. Belgium is probably an exception, as many American brewers still try to copy them, whereas most other European beers are now trying to imitate American beers (micro - not the mass market bilge). Or coasting along on old reputations that are now completely undeserved.

We 2 had 1-ltr of DS Black + 1-pint of it. So I'm really drunk now.

Question : are you guys really having these poison's or just copy pasting the pictures from net .... ?

if yes, then looks like you like to explore different brands and tastes, is it because you like to explore or you yet to find the one which suits your liking ?

Myself .... i have couple of Buds on weekend and thanks that its comming in 500 ml tin cans ... making it too chilled

Tanoj, the microbrews I posted about earlier are not, unfortunately, to be found in India.

However, you will be surprised at how much is now available in good liquor stores. For example, Leffe, which is a decent Belgian beer is commonly available.

Even among stouts which are very rarely available except for overhyped Guinness, you can try and find Haywards Black. It is quite a decent stout and is reasonable priced too.

There are also microbreweries in India that are growing in popularity. I used to go to one in Pune (which I believe was the pioneer), and they had a really good selection of 4-5 beers - all of which taste very different from the standard Kingfisher and other golden lagers that pretty much taste the same.

Thanks for the links to the Stouts you are currently enjoying :licklips:
Envy you enjoying them. Have you tried any of Dogfish head Brews???

As for Haywards Black, its a fantastic Stout made in India, which unfortunately not easily available in Mumbai, due thanks to poor response :o

Doolally's in Pune are good for once in a while indulgence but sadly not consistent with their batches as I found out recently

Avoid drinking KF as much as possible, total piss :p

:). Nice thread. My taste is not that varied or "tasteful". Simple man with simple taste

Whisky - JD or Teachers. With Ice or Water.
Vodka - Absolut, Absolutely. Nothing else please. :)
Rum - Bacardi Gold. Reserva whenever I am flying through airports. :)
Beer - Corona. Although never seen in India. :( :(. If in India prefer KF Strong. Very nice for me.

These are my personal taste. I am a solemn drinker. :P... hehehehe. But when I am with friends.. ANYTHING GOES. Dunno why. Hate being a fussy drink buddy. :P. Last time when I went back to Mysore, Got a bottle Tequila and Baileys from Paris for the buddies :D. Got a bottle of Chocolate Smirnoff from Mysore drops also for that white russians :P. But Baileys neat was better. Then it wasnt enough among 9 fellows... Went and AGAIN got another bottle of something... was pretty drunk by that point.. :S.. Guess it was OMR :S.It just went in. God, I have changed. Used to have local brands of something something when I was in college with buddies. :). Guess any poison with couple of friends is all it needs.

Coming to the point.. Just got myself bottle of Jack to finish off during xmas holidays. ;).
And got a 6 pack of Hard Cider. Didnt had any till now. Dunno what to make of it. Shall i go for it or not.. :S. 6% Alchohol content. Made from Apple... I dont want fruity taste...perhaps I will better of getting a 6 pack Corona and giving this off to room mates. :D.

One thing, you guys have the poison alone or with some finger food? I cant have alchohol alone.. It just makes me feel hungry. :(

KF sucks but it was the most sold beer in India before the advent of Carlsberg / Tuborg. This is the first time I'm hearing about Haywards Black and I'll try to find it.

@m-jeri man, if you can't find anyone to finish that bottle of JD, invite me. I like Jim Beam Black too, neat.

If you want fruity taste, better try Tuborg Booster. @90/- per bottle, it's very good. It's a change that you need.

Personally, I don't like Teacher's. I would rather have Jim Bean White or Cutty Sark or even J&B Rare.

About the food, I prefer having cashew or almonds roasted. I do that in my microwave with my special recipe. Or I would have a chicken breast shredded and tossed with bell peppers and chillies in very little salt and oil (or no oil, my recipe). That's how I still maintain my abs even after drinking 5-6 days per week :D

Well I had carlsberg from Copenhagen itself... It just doesn't match to what kf does to me.perhaps that's what personal taste and emotion towards a certain brand gives. Anyways had many a tuborg in Goa last year when I was there for vacation.

I said I don't like fruity taste..:(...heheh..JD... will finish off myself...but its bad to deny a man drink...so next time..when I have one in india.. Will call u..
U can come to mysore..will have a bottle..hehehe

Partial to a good Single Malt when I have my system turned on.
Have a Glenfidich "Rich Oak" (American + Spanish Oak) 14 yrs going along with a nice Glenmorangie "Quinta Ruban" 12 yrs.

My regular tipple is Teachers 50 with ice + club soda.

That's a nice recipe! Thanks.

When I was in Pune, I discovered (or re-discovered) Vat 69. I tried others after that but kept coming back to the Vat. It really is a good whiskey, better than most blended scotches even those much higher priced or the imported ones. There's also an old-school emotion associated with a Vat (at least to me).

A friend of mine used to do peanuts "Bengali style" or Oriya style, which was to roast peanuts in the micro with a little salt and a fair amount of good quality mustard oil. It really is something else, especially if you like the mustard hit.

Hat tip. You even have the correct glassware to appreciate it. I tried the Quintan Ruban (once) and it is very good.

Nice thread!:)
I have been sampling Whiskys available in Hyderabad -at non-duty free prices, and to my palate, Teachers Origin seems to the best of the lot - considering its price. Consequently I enjoy it whenever I run out stock of Laphroaig 10 yrs which is my favorite. If we could get Amrut in Hyd. I would shift unconditionally, but that is a privilege accorded to our esteemed FM's from Bangalore only.
Cheers,
Sid

An interesting thing to note is that most Indian whiskeys are actually rums. Sounds bizarre but it is true, as it is mostly made from fermented molasses or sugarcane. Whiskeys are made from fermented grain, typically malted barley.

I too don't like Vat 69, I would rather have Antiquity Blue.

I had Teacher's Origin few days back. I didn't like it. Still have some left, might finish that today.

Glenfiddich is available here but it's little costly for me now. I might grab on 31st if a friend feels like sharing the cost.
