If you like vodka, try Ketel One. It is not as heavily marketed but I found it much superior to most other vodkas including Absolut (overrated), Stolichnaya (decent), or the other stuff.

One way to have it (that really brings out the flavor) is to put the vodka in the freezer and then have chilled vodka shots (vodka won't freeze in the freezer). Only the really good vodkas will not leave a bad aftertaste. And the good ones will become lusciously oily in texture.

Honestly, I feel it is a waste to take an expensive vodka and then mix fruit juice or some much with it.

I don't think there's Ketel One available here but I've seen Skyy, Finlandia, Grey Goose. Too pricey for me to spend on Vodka. I liked Stolichnaya. Nothing special about Absolut. Have you tried Resolute ? Saw Smirnoff Black yesterday priced at 1.7K, might give it a try.

Personally, I don't like Vodka that much and I just wanted to try a cocktail so tried the Black Russian. I take vodka neat or with little water. Primarily, a whisky drinker.

I'd recommend a small peg with Sprite or Limca (or Duke's lemonade).
If you are hard core - then just cold water is a great option.

If you're interested in a mojito version here's a quick & dirty version!

1. Muddle a few "pudina" leaves in a whiskey glass
2. Add pinch of salt and pepper
3. Squeeze a quarter sour lime (remove seeds)
Option: Fresh Orange or Sweet lime
4. Add the alcohol peg
5. Half glass Sprite + Half soda (more sprite if you like sweet)
6. Stir before serving

100 Pipers 12-years is good but I find Black Dog 12-years smoother. I like them both though. Prices are more or less same so go for Black Dog 12-years which comes in 1-ltr.

Thanks Anubis, yes I have been having Black Dog 12 yrs. as my regular till I switched to Teachers Origin, so if this is better than 100 pipers 12 then perhaps I will pass. Anyways once Hyderabad starts getting warmer which will happen in the next 2 weeks I will switch to Carlsberg or bud, so will review this in monsoon.
