Hi guys from Bangalore

Can you suggest the place where my son at Bangalore college can get an anti-ragging affidavit done by an Oath Commissioner?

He need it to be done by an week's time.

Sorry for being totally off-topic from Audio & video.

Regards

Amit

Isn't that just a fancy name for a notary. I guess you can find quite a few of them around Mayo hall. One of my friends got some self declarations signed by a lawyer (I will have to check, but I believe he was also a notary) in Jayanagar, IIRC Rs 50 per document.

Affidavits are done at all the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA as they call) complexes ! It sounds complex but its actually very easy. You will also find brokers who would charge extra. I did it once and I only paid 100 rs to them, very nominal when compared to the headache you have dealing with those guys... :yahoo:

Oath Commissioners are notary, who have the permission to perform as Oath Commissioner. All the notary are not Oath commissioner.

I had made Anti-ragging affidavit by a Notary at Noida and given to my son, but his college didn't accept it as that notary is not an Oath Commissioner. So, my son has to again make the affidavit by Oath commissioner only.

Hi Amit,
Any advocate + notary should be able to do this. It is very simple. The advocate drafts the affidavit on a stamp paper of Rs.20 and have it sworn to before a Notary by the student personally. If the student is a minor, the affidavit must be sworn by his father or guardian. Total cost including advocate fee and notary fee should be around Rs.300.

^ inputs are from my dad who is an advocate.

Thanks Santosh ji. Any suggested place at Bangalore, where I can tell my son to go and do the needful?

Amitji,
Please PM me which area your son is in, will check with my dad if he can recommend someone. My Dad could help but his office is in Vijaynagar and may be too far for your son to travel.

Thanks Santoshji for offering your help.
Meanwhile, I could get the affidavit done at Patiala High court Delhi by an Oath Commissioner. There are hardly 3-4 Oath commissioners at Patiala High Court.
