Which diesel car ?

Recommend a diesel car for around 8 lakhs.
Maruti Ertiga
Honda Amaze
Ford Ecosport.
Also Ritz,Swift and Dezire.
Any other options?
Lesser maintenance cost is the primary concern.

Cant go wrong with a Suzuki tuned Fiat engine and a Suzuki gearbox in ertiga. Only thing you have to see how you like the car ergonomics wise and does it serve your purpose? Also the VGT version in ertiga has considerable turbo lag. So if you have more city use, you have to be very sure before buying one or atleast test drive extensively before making a decision

Again Honda I-dtech is good but main issue right now is NVH levels inside the car. Otherwise drivability is good. again make your mind if the amaze serves your purpose or not

If lesser maintenance cost is main buying point maruti and Honda cars are top 2 contenders

Built like a tank; huge boot space; decent seating; beautiful!

If peace of mind is most important, Honda, maruti and Toyotas are best bet

If you are ready to get adventerious and can take out time (if you don't have a hectic work routine), there are many options are far more driver oriented cars out there like VW, skoda, fiat, ford

Then again comes the question, what does one want from his car

Simple no nonsense point A to B car or extremely fun to drive car


The MJD engine performs very badly in punto and liena mainly due to their poor tuning and lousy gearbox. little blame also goes to extra weight but I for one am not complaining for that point. Punto I guess is the only hatch in its class which gets a metal engine guard to protect the oil sump

At this time of the year, please be careful to check the VIN to make sure that the dealer isn't passing off 2013 model at '14 price.

Don't forget to upsize tyres. You can choose between Michelin xm2 and hook a drives

Companies keep lowest width possible to maximize fuel efficiency figures. This should not be done at cost of safety


You don't need to change the rims


But seriously consider this. I would consider this upgrade rather then spending money on seat covers, Teflon and other accessories

Maybe once you will need emergency braking but with better tyres braking and handling will improve immensely. Yeah and add better comfort as Well
