Hi all,

Which sacd player I should choose? I have selected Denon 1510 till the date?
Any other suggestions are welcome.
I had choosen OPPO but on the site it is written that it is designated for North Ameraical people only. Moreover it is not officially launched in India so service will be an issue.

Please suggest some SACD or universal player.

Thank you all.

Are you going to use a separate DAC? If yes, Sony BDP 380 and above are capable of playing SACDs. Recently I was searching for a media player that can play CDs as well. Thats when I read about it. By the way, do you have a collection of SACDs? Which albums? From where did you get them? These sony BDPs were almost perfect for me except that they don't play FLAC. Why I asked about Dac is because I am not sure of the onboard DAC although I read some user reviews where the analogue out of Sony BDP was praised.

Will the BDP 380 send the digital out on SP/DIF or Toslink when a SACD is playing? If it does, I would love to pick one up too.

From the little reading I did about SACD licensing, Sony made it very hard for any manufacturer to convert the DSD to PCM and send it out for decoding to a regular DAC. OPPOs, however, do claim to do it. Not sure if they will send out a down-sampled stream or at the rate at which it is recorded.

Vikas what type of musi you listen? Is all your music available on SACD? Where?
If it available abroad are you going to source it? Also SACDs tend to be expensive sometimes very expensive...so are you going to invest cosnsiderable money , time and effort to build your library?
Have you checked above facts?

The oppo 95 will be by far the best choice below 60k. Its dac is of reference quality, u need to use the multichannel analog out to get the best possible sound quality. Afaik there are no region codings so I don't know what you mean when u say its meant for north american buyers only. It is also meant to work with all kinds of voltages so no problem there also.

Hi All,

I am very thnakful for all your replies.

First of all instead of sacd I have decided to go for universal player as I have to connect that with my plasma, so I will not get stuck with SACD alone.

Secondly,I know oppo is good however not officially in india , so if happens something wrong , no service will be provided.
If u check site of OPPO & go to purchase section, there they have clearly mentioned that the product is designated only for the north american customers.

I have selected cambridge audio universal player. That is one of the best available here in india.

Thank you to all, as I have to leave for office I not able to answer one by one , so I have written in one post.

Very thankful to all of you for loads of information and queries.

will SACD player be sending output as PCM or is analog output the only option when playing sacd (unless you have a DSD dac/ avr)?

In the oppo you have both options of sending via DSD or PCM through HDMI. With analog you get a restricted to the stereo track stored in the SACD, I think as the audio quality is poorer.

Oppo can decode DSD and send multi-channel analog out. It's not restricted to stereo track alone.

However, there are other SACD player which have only 2 channel analog out. But Oppo is not one of those and is known for it's multi-channel analog out.
