hi,am a new member on the forum.Would appreciate advice from members regarding the choice of a amplifier and speaker combination for pure audio usage.Have a room which is 20*14 ft,am interested in listening to the 80 n 90s pop and soft rock along with hindi film songs from the golden years.
have a budget of around 1 lac for the same.Had a listen to Yamaha AS 500 amp,was impressed with the performance with jamo 606.What would be the opinion of members regarding the performance of the 606s for pure music application. Was also recommended the sonodyne sonus 2605s to go along with the yamaha amp.the recommendation being based on the logic that the sonodynes will give a good performance (if i am not finicky about the indian origin of the sonodynes, why pay for the import taxes n inflated invoices of the marquee brands). The dealer recommending this combo is a well respected figure in the local circles besides being a musician himself. His suggestion is based on the feedback of his customers after installations as well as his musical background.
What would be the feedback from the members regarding this line of thought?
Do not really have the option of auditioning a lot of brands here in Goa as there are hardly any dealers based here and dont really have the time to go to the metros to do the auditions.
Have read on the forums that choice is very subjective but still would be very interested in any feedback from members regarding the combo for music.
thanks

What are you planning to use for the source ?
Do you have any amplifiers or speakers with you at present ?

I liked the Jamo 607 and if the 606 is anything then it should be good.

The Yamaha AS500 appears to be a good amp.

Also, check out Monitor Audio RX6 & RX8... check especially if the Yamaha drives them.

I personally liked MA RX8 the most.

You can also check out DALI Ikon 6 (excellent midrange) but I personally found the bass lacking.

:clapping:Hi i've got entire 5.1 setup of Jamo 606 cherry finish n used for only 20 days looking to sell it as i've upgraded to Jamo D590 5.1 for HT and JBL ES 100 for 2ch. surely 606's are very musical and detailed but u need powerful Amp to drive them. I upgraded from denon 3211 sorry i had to add MARANTZ MM 7055 to 3211. Max SPL of 606 is 110 dB n me being a trance guy needed 120 dB which i m getting Now

Both 606 n 607 are very good musical n detailed setups as i owned them n upgraded to D590 606's are still with me as i m looking for right 5/2 channel lover.Note: 606 require powerful Amp to get the real sweet juice out of the 606 that starts coming at 100dB SPL. Try this and u wont be sorry thats the guaranteeeeeeee

you must listen to other speakers as well before you decide. the monitor audio bronze and kef q series are good if you want floorstanders.
