I intend to buy a 40"/42" lcd/plasma and am a total tech illiterate..went through many posts in hope of gettin some knowledge and that left me even more confused:-|

So i hope someone would give me some clear idea about what to buy..

here are the aspects i would be looking for..
-clarity should be great ofcourse(sound and picture)..will be mostly using for normal tv watching and then movies..
-usb connect is a must..n preferably should support various movie formats
-wifi connectivity would be good too..
-pricing should be around 50-60k..can stretch a lil..

there seem to be so damn many tvs out there to choose from and yet it's so tough to choose the correct one..

please help!

Very common confusion I would say. If I have to suggest the best possible solution for your requirements:

1) Get a decent HD Ready Plasma/LCD (approx 40k), as your primary requirement is normal Television & then movies
2) Get a HDD media player like xtreamer with 500GB hdd (approx 10-12k). This will satisfy your wifi & movie format more than what you wish for.

I hope this helps a bit

-usb connect is a must..n preferably should support various movie formats Most 2010 models from LG and Samsung (not SONY .... hehe sorry adder) support .mkv playback from the TVs USB port.
-wifi connectivity would be good too..and what may I ask ar e you going to do with wi-fi connectivity??
-pricing should be around 50-60k..can stretch a lil..Excellent budget... you can get a decent 42" for that amount. If something is left over then invest in a Blu-Ray player or HD Media Player

Read the red print...... If you can't decide then list all the probable models you are considering. Write the model number on separate chits of paper and mix them up in a glass bowl. Place the bowl on a three legged table (it has to be 3 legged), walk 3 times around the table and then pick a chit. Let us know how it works out.....
