Go for samsung. Sony sucks in this field

You need to make up your mind on the size.

The 40D550 in particular comes with a SMVA panel which is inferior compared to the SPVA panel .

If you don't mind the grey market you can get a 40EX520 edge LED version or the samsung D5xxx within your budget.

why aren't you considering PLASMA? For diff between Plasma vs LCD please refer to my earlier thread which will explain why plasma is better, to the contrary of what most people might advice. If you want, I could once again copy it over here. The plasma tv's that would fit into your budget are:

panasonic 42ST30D 59k
panasonic 42U30D 41k
samsung 43D490 39k
Samsung 42C430 37k
samsung 42C91H 59k

Do not take a decision in haste, please demo all the tv's before you buy anything. Also remember in case of plasma always turn down the lights for demo, bright light is an over kill to plasma tv. why settle for a smaller size when you can get a 42inches well within your budget.

Is panasonic 42U30D still available as i heard that it is out of stock everywhere and also is samsung 43d490 a good tv(durable)?

I'm sure the dealer will order for you, should you be interested in buying. Samsung make very good entry level plasma's while panasonic scores on hi end plasma's, so do not rule samsung out. I would have a demo and then decide.
