We have a Sony home theater system, the DVD receiver is model HBD T2140. We successfully played DVD's for months, then all of a sudden part way through a DVD, the screen goes black and we see "Invalid Format" on the screen. We still get sound. The DVD player is set to DVD format and on HDMI 2 on our home provider box, which is the only format a DVD will play on.
We contacted our internet provider, they checked and found the problem is not from their end.
Any ideas?

It is possible that somehow the output format has been changed to something that the TV can't read inadvertently. You can try resetting your player. Or, it is possible that the hdmi port on your player is gone.

Are you getting the error message only during playback of a DVD? If you are able to view the player menu and settings, try resetting to factory default settings from the menu.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
