Wifi Direct?

Hi Guys,

Does wifi direct allows user to play content directly from the Laptop to TV say samsung H4900.

If yes, this is a wonderful feature and we do not need a router to stream media.

I am not sure about Laptop to Tv because, but Mobile to TV is possible if both has wifi direct.

Laptop to TV works for my Panny E6d too. But its not wifi direct lol. Plays movies from laptop to TV using the windows media player through the DLNA server. But yes as my understanding DLNA requires wifi router

The technology of using WiFi Direct to relay mobile or laptop screen to TV is called officially Miracast. If your TV says it supports screen mirroring or something similar then it must be having Miracast. Your laptop or mobile phone should also support this feature for screen mirroring to work. Android 4.2.2 and above supports miracast i think. Or may be it is 4.3, dont remember ATM.
This technology does not require a router in between, but the TV must have built-in WIFI or use a USB WiFi dongle from the TV manufacturer.
